What is the gravest ecological challenge? Global heating, mass extinction, pollution? My new book, ‘Just Earth’, published by Bloomsbury Books & which is out in March, suggests it’s actually social inequalities.

A lot of what is said about Nature holding up development is simply not true. It’s wrong. False. At best misleading. If you’ve heard that newts are a cause of our national housing shortage, read this from @naturalengland.bsky.social

Why are we failing on climate change and biodiversity despite fifty years of campaigning? Could social inequality be the root cause undermining all our conservation efforts?
In this episode, I talk with @tonyjuniper.bsky.social about his latest book 'Just Earth'. 🌍

Delighted to see that the great Mark Cocker has chosen ‘Just Earth’ to include in the Spectator’s Books Of The Year round up. What a good place for that book to be highlighted.

Marvellous. They are in Logan’s Meadow nature reserve. I have found the odd half eaten big fish by the boathouses and thought it was probably signs of Otter. Excellent to get an actual sighting and picture. Really great 👍
Central Cambridge Otter!
My friend @w-mcewan.bsky.social just saw this Otter near the boathouses! (31 Oct '25)
Incredible!

The huge biodiversity gains from restoring farm #ponds. Major evidence coming in from studies at our Heydon restored pondscape, Norfolk, eastern England @tonyjuniper.bsky.social @fwageast.bsky.social @farmwildlifeuk.bsky.social @brecksfarmerswn.bsky.social @norfolknats.bsky.social @epcn.bsky.social
How do you get a 120% increase in wetland plants in the farmed landscape & massively increase water beetle diversity too? The answer is restore farm ponds by scrub & sediment removal - key is to go in hard & make a big impact. See new paper: share.google/VVowsJzqHdPT...
