🧵 It's so important to remember that the administration and all its functionaries are always lying and bullshitting, about everything except for the desire to hurt designated outgroups. Humoring them is a trap. The norms of discourse don't apply because their utterances aren't attempts at discourse.
This administration lied about the people it sent to an overseas torture prison. It lies about the people it’s deporting. It lies every day to gain political advantage. Not a chance in hell they won’t lie about huge swaths of people they suspect might vote for the other party.
This is very bad.

These are also the perils of hiring a head coach based on a search firm rec. The blatant disregard for the well-being of these young men is pitiful. Every Regent should be voted out if they accept this. Every last one. This is as irresponsible as anything Warde has done.
You can't say in one hand that you care about culture & protecting/developing young men and hire an active member of the Church of LDS. Like fuck all the way off. I don't care if there hasn't been an NCAA-style "scandal" under his tenure – give me 100 instances of Connor Stallions style nonsense.
Just want to be clear that I don't want an active Mormon running University of Michigan football. I already have to deal with enough Christian bullshit that comes with the territory, I don't want my school being led by a cult member.

My annual Christmas reminder: The letters to Santa are not why Santa was found in court to be Santa in "Miracle on 34th Street." It was because prosecuting Santa Claus looked really bad politically for the judge and he was looking for any excuse to let him go. The moral is: Work the refs

Most unsettling Christmas song lyrics:

3. "Holy infant, so tender and mild"
Why does it sound like we're cooking a baby?

2. "He sees you when you're sleeping"
Self-explanatory

1. "Giddy up, jingle horse"
I don't know what a "jingle horse" is, and I hope I never find out.

Probably because journalists aren't calling the shots, the business managers are. Same thing with Google Search results – the search engineers were made to serve revenue people, not the other way around.
For the life of me, I cannot understand why news organizations are adopting AI widgets like this, especially when they're pinned to the top of an article so that readers see them before they ever see the text.

It's practically begging readers to not read the things you're paying people to write.

a lot has been said about Jack Skellington as allegory for cultural appropriation (I definitely wasn't the first) but there's also a lot to be said about Jack Skellington as clueless tech billionaire

No one wants to coach at Penn State and I for one think that's very very sad. Terrible. Tragic, even.
Sources: Jeff Brohm has turned down overtures from Penn State to remain at Louisville. He and the Louisville administration continue to work on new contract terms that should be finalized in the near future.

Being up 6-0 on Ohio State is ....good. But it's going to hurt that they didn't punch in one of those. Pushing them around isn't enough when we're also outgunned.

(If it is, Ryan Day goes back on the hot seat, right?)

if ownership fucks that up by damaging the product in terms of removing inventory, sowing distaste and disinterest among fans, etc. they will really be shooting themselves, and not just in the foot. They can't afford it, and I really don't think they will do it, ultimately.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Border Patrol agent Lairmore testifies that he was not injured by the sandwich, but he felt the impact through his ballistic vest.

The sandwich came apart and "kind of exploded" on his chest upon impact, he says.

"I could smell the onions and mustard."

FWIW, the higher-payroll team has won four of the six completed series so far. The two exceptions are Blue Jays (5) over Yankees (3) and Cubs (10) over Padres (9)

@DannyKnobler Six teams still alive in the playoffs. Between them they’ve won just three of the last 30 World Series. Oh and three of them ranked in the bottom half of opening day payrolls.
