“Tell me the wretched truth about America” is inspired rhetoric. Don’t tell me we were great. Tell me what’s wrong, what demands repair & redress. Show me what needs work.

Tell me, in short, the truth. I can take it. bsky.app/profile/atru...

This may be the most important thing he's said if only because it's very hard for people to admit they were wrong and seeing someone else do it makes it so much easier
Booker: "I confess that I have been imperfect. I confess that I've been inadequate to the moment. I've confess that the Democratic Party has made terrible mistakes that gave a lane to this demagogue. I confess we all must look in the mirror and say 'we will do better.'"

Cory Booker has just broken Strom Thurmond's record for longest Senate filibuster ever, which stood for 68 years.

Thurmond set it objecting to the Civil Rights Act of 1957.

Booker set it arguing against authoritarianism.

May Strom's name be forgotten and his memory erased.

This was my view as soon as it happened which is why I spent some of Tuesday and all of Wednesday writing about it and then gave my editor a couple days to edit it. Had it out Friday January 31st. THEN all hell broke loose.

"The United States is not a startup. If you run it like one, it will break."

Tech bros love to say "move fast and break things." But whose things? Did they ask permission? And who suffers the consequences?
wired.com WIRED @wired.com · Feb 7
It feels like no one should have to say this, and yet we are in a situation where it needs to be said, very loudly and clearly, before it’s too late to do anything about it: The United States is not a startup. If you run it like one, it will break.

This is a good way to put it. The only thing we're debating here is the terminology to describe the type of far-right eugenicist psycho we're dealing with. Even if Elon is not "technically" a Nazi he is something equally bad on the merits.
bsky.app/profile/pcol...
If we define "Nazi" as an early 20th Century political/social movement then nobody is a Nazi. They're all dead.

But if you promote devout neo-Nazis, make Nazi salutes and espouse theories of ethnic purity and segregation, then you are whatever a Nazi would be called today.

No, I don't need a bloody copilot for this document, thank you.

Writing is, in no small part, a tool for thinking. If you outsource that element to a machine that cannot think, you shouldn't be surprised if, at the end of the process, neither you nor your reader are any the wiser.
