Howdy to yet another platform. Wonder how many this makes sense I started tinkering with computers in the BBS and dial-up days.

I work with Industrial IoT and am into skiing, bicycling, concerts, walking, backpacking, kettlebells, cooking, and good urban planning.
The narrator on the current season of Hell’s Kitchen keeps mispronouncing Nevada. How’d they mess that up?

Got some great neighbors out here in the West!
New Mexico is now officially the first state to offer free child care to all residents.

Under the program all families, regardless of income, can get their child care fees covered.

Proponents say the program will help the economy, improve education, and boost child welfare.

I get so grossed out by the sheer volume of money spent on campaigns and how it could be used for better things in the world.

I picked up a used Concept2 rower after trying a Peloton row class at a hotel at a work conference...what a blast! This week I'm enjoying technique classes but going to start regular classes + Power Zone rides next week to get me through to Mid South Gravel in March.

Devoured the latest Denverse magazine on my flight. Between a cute poem about my neighborhood, a lovely piece on birding, thoughts on local art, an insightful article on AI in local schools, and a chat about San Pedro cacti… hope Denver folks are enjoying this new magazine as much as I am.

What's on your minds?

As is seasonally appropriate, I've been thinking about death.

B/c I can't help myself I've also been thinking about Christianity's fucked up relationship to death, and the toxic dynamics of hardline faith.

"Mamdani’s unapologetic embrace of marginalized communities shows what real leadership looks like: a politics that doesn’t ask whom to abandon to win, but whom to lift up to build something worth winning for."

SO REFRESHING. Colorado leaders... uh.. take some notes.
1. As some Democrats have run from transgender rights, Zohran Mamdani is showing what so many others have lacked: courage to lead with his values over pandering to focus groups.

The ad is one of the best things I've seen from a politician on transgender people.

This guy looks like he planted an Acts 29 church in the 2000s.

(I was an eager part of that movement, unfortunately. Glad I'm out now.)
A White Christian nationalist pastor argued recently on a right-wing podcast that the Bible--specifically Deuteronomy 21, about how a father must bring his rebellious son to the town square to be stoned--justifies state violence against Black boys and young men.

I’m not sure that Denver’s mayor has ever even ridden a bus at all.
I'm on the slowest bus line in the city with the slowest buses in the nation to talk to New Yorkers about what it would mean for their lives if we made them fast and free.
