Republicans have been fighting to take away the ACA ever since Obama signed it into law.
That’s why it was important to vote for Hillary in 2016 and Kamala in 2024.
But too many people who supposedly cared wanted to play games instead, and here we are.

I know I'm in the minority on this one, but it's easier to say "shut it down!" than it is to leave poor people without food on thanksgiving and airports only partially functional.
All in an attempt to gain leverage over a person who is a psychopath.
Someone who DOES NOT CARE if the poor go hungry.

@joycecaroloates.bsky.social you are on a ROLL.
Well done...speaking truth to power as the phrase goes.

YES.
THIS.
The ACA cuts happened in the reconciliation bill in July, every single Democrat voted against it and they got 3 detectors so Vance had to break the tie, and the Dems just shut down the government for 40 days to try and get them to undo it, it is absolutely deranged to blame this on “Democrats”
Yes - this is a loss because Democrats have now signed on to ACA cuts as a complicit party and once again made it a less effective issue for the mid terms

This is so true.
And it's not just the political elite that has stopped thinking about it.
I think most Americans have also put it out of their heads.
Sort of a universal shrug.
Unclear how that can end well.
America's political elite has decided that climate change is no longer that important or worth talking about, but rest assured, it's still happening, it's extremely bad, and yes, it is going to affect you here in America.
What Climate Change Will Do to America by Mid-Century
Many places may become uninhabitable. Many people may be on their own.

This is a shame.
I was hoping Lander would be helping run things.
So much for that.
"CNN reported that Lander — who campaigned aggressively for Mamdani during the Democratic primary — is “out of the picture” after seeking a top role in the new administration".

So true.
People need to realize that these online platforms are not just a personal venting place.
They are a BROADCAST.
Normies may dip in from time to time just to see what the vibe is.
If the vibe you usually project is "DEM BAD!" that is what the normies will come away with.
That is not helpful.
If "of COURSE the gop is the primary author of our collective discontent" is such an obvious truth that it hardly bears saying out loud, how come there isn't a torture devised that could get some of the folks on this website to admit it? Do they all just have that much of an aversion to the obvious?

Can anyone remember the name of that account on X that Elon would dialog with?
Some anonymous account with a super dumb name.
I can't remember what it was.
I know there's more than one, but that ONE in particular....🤔
Indeed.
Instead we've got a bond villain who spends significant time interacting with someone called "stinkfart5000" or whatever.
Then when a professional writer brings up the fact that he doesn't read, he gets all defensive.

It is not accurate to say that if Schumer had just kept the shutdown going we save the ACA forever.
Not the dynamic.
The reason trump ran for president was because Obama made fun of him.
So Trump's mission is to dismantle anything and everything Obama ever did.
It is an obsession.
IMO people "online" need to find a setting between
1)perhaps from my perspective the Dem strategy is not ideal
and
2)vote every dem out of office!
People need to consider the possibility that when you had all the branches of government over to a fascist regime there ARE no great outcomes.

Also from the department of "things people on here don't like to consider":
The increase in rent stabilized apartments over the last decade is ONE THIRD of inflation.
So it's no mystery why so many of these apartments sit vacant and in disrepair.
Yep.
If Harris was president and had a blue congress?
The government wouldn't be shut down.
ACA would be safe.
So would SNAP.
So would USAID.
Facts.

when I was a kid, soundgarden was the closest thing we had to "our led zeppelin"
Nice to see them honored in 2025.
The tributes to Chris Cornell were very touching.
Sadly the roots of his self destruction were also a load bearing element to some of their most powerful songs.

Shoulda voted for Harris, America.
Then we wouldn’t be seeing this kind of thing:

If you didn't want to have to choose between health insurance, airports functioning, food stamps, etc you should not have allowed a psychopath to be president.
Don't believe there is some magical good answer when the options are eating sheep s**t or dog s**t.
That is delusional.
Folks are so online they think performance is everything.
But the truth is that elections have consequences.
America gave control of the government to maga last year.
Scotus, White House, Congress.
That is the hard truth.
Keep the government open or closed.
Both options suck.
November 10, 2025 at 5:23 AM
When the government is controlled by a psychopath there ARE no good paths.
Only variations on the theme of bad paths.
There is a fantasy that we can somehow reverse what happened last November.
But it's just a fantasy.
Until you flip congress, maga has the power to demolish the country.
Sad truth.

So here's where we are, Sunday morning:

Trump is trying to starve hungry kids in order to bully Democrats into abandoning our fight against health care premium increases.

So Trump is starving kids in order to deny families health care.

Again, notice the theme here.
It's not about "left" or "center".
It's about WINNING.
Dismantle the circular firing squad and focus on winning.
That is a team effort.
That is what the midterms will be about.
We all get together, highlighting how bad the trump regime is, and we disempower it.
Democrats' 2025 election wins go beyond the big races:

In Pennsylvania, Dems swept the top "row offices" in Bucks County, electing the county's first-ever Democratic DA and defeating an incumbent Republican sheriff.

Dems notched victories in county executive races in Erie, Lehigh and Northampton.

TRUMPFLATION is bad.
Last time we had a pandemic to inflict inflation on us.
Now the trump regime does it to us on purpose.

Trump has never worked harder on anything than he has on preventing poor Americans from being fed.
NEW: The Trump admin told states it must immediately "undo" the work to provide full food stamp benefits, or face penalties. The feds sent this in a late-night memo, only adding to the chaos and confusion around SNAP. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/09/b...

Agreed.
For all those who are SO SURE that trump is going to fix the midterms:
he sure failed to fix any elections this month.
I'm sure he wanted to.
But does not have the capacity to do it.
So please, stop with the doomerism about the midterms.
Focus on winning them.
Not saying they won't happen.
Oh this is so dumb.

Do you have the vaguest sense of how many troops this would take?

They literally just tried targeting districts with election monitors and the district had massive turnout and an overwhelming flip to the Democrats.
Let’s not be naive about it. They didn’t take this small-potatoes midterm seriously, but that doesn’t mean plans/efforts aren’t in place for ‘26, especially in light of the results. Putting troops in blue cities is absolutely a plan for ‘26 voter suppression.

How long until fellow sexual assault perp Trump pardons him.
A Donald Trump supporter who fired off a gun during the 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol was arrested last month on kidnapping and sexual assault charges, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office in Illinois.

Nobody "on here" likes to hear this but it is still salient:
*New York State currently has the highest taxes per capita in the nation*
So there may be some pushback on raising taxes even higher.
Just something to keep in mind before you start attacking democrats instead of trump.
