I'm that bridge-jumping friend your parents were always warning you about. Bassist for @OnionHoneyMusic.bsky.social, person of many hobbies, aspiring circus-joiner.
I think it's neat that songs from KPop Demon Hunters are getting regular radio play here.

"Bluesky is boring."

Social media *should* be boring. Being algorithm and dopamine poisoned is bad, actually.

When your feed dries up for the day, that's your cue to go do something else until new stuff shows up later.

I am watching Severance and at some point they put a whole-ass drum line and marching band in a tiny room with cubicles and the only thing I could think about for the whole scene is how absolutely DEAFENING that would be.

I really hate the term "sideloading". I preferred the original term, which was "installing software on a computer that you own"

You'd think that I would learn that these instant cup noodle things are not made for me. But here we are again. (Sound on for the joke)
I tried an instant hot pot thing today and it was good but also I feel like this really sums up my experience with it.

Does anyone I know use BeReal or is that one of those things where if I try and use it, it will just be me and my teenage cousins?

shout out to the entire generation of overachieving eldest daughters with undiagnosed ADHD who got shoved into the gifted & talented program based on test scores & then had folks demanding "why aren't you living up to your potential" for 20 years, I hope you're having a great day friends
genius is something one must accomplish by means of their works, not because they took a standardized test
The idea of genius as something that one is, rather than something one has, is a blight and has been providing air cover for antisociality for far too long. I blame the Romantics.

If I had enough vacation days I would book a day off after every multi day trip. Not having to roll straight back into work the next day is a gift.

Hello, I'm a computer programmer in a film. I can access any system from any computer in seconds. I use a black-background-green-text command line interface for every task. I live and work in a windowless room full of computers, lit only by the glow of the monitors.
Hello, I'm a journalist in a film. I have ironclad ethical standards, but will sleep with anyone to get the story. I've never called an outside comment in my life. I hammer out 5,000 word features in moments, rip them out and hand them to the printer with no editor ever seeing the copy.
Hello, I'm a scientist in a film. I am a neuroscientist, who pipettes brightly colored liquids. No one else seems to work in my lab. I can decode anyone's genome with a single hair on my coffee break. I can permanently alter someone's genome in a single evening.

I'm also a surgeon.

This is so real. I'm sitting here back in front of my work computer wishing I could sleep for another six hours but ALSO wishing I could go back and do more of that.
Monday morning, back to the 9-5.

I've said it before, but after a weekend of playing folk-star at a festival and then coming back to the day job (y'know, the thing that actually pays the bills) is such a brutal gear change.

I'm exhausted. Need sleep 😴

Changing the strings on a double bass is just like changing guitar strings, only each string costs like $120 and if you do it wrong your instrument will literally fall apart (or implode), and if the string breaks it might kill you.
