I love the initial part of booking tours - figuring out the path, finding the venues you're going to pitch, reaching out to all of them...

Then there's the waiting. For replies, for confirmations, finding places to sleep, actually making profit...

Working on booking a tour for the band this summer. Came up with a few different drivable paths plus one crazy moonshot idea to fly out, do a 1 week northwest Ontario and Manitoba tour and fly home after a 2nd festival the next weekend, and we're actually going for that plan. Incredible! I'm pumped!

One (whose brain is not already pickled) would argue that, in fact, USING AI leaves vulnerable people without knowledge.

The proof is in the (brain) pudding
AI sits in billions of phones. Refusing to engage won't stop it, just leaves vulnerable people without knowledge. Demand ownership and control, not abstinence.
Abstinence From AI Is Not the Answer
Opinion | Refusing to use AI won’t protect society. Responsible resistance must include gaining knowledge about it.

Tonight's venue is Chaucer's in London! The Cuckoo's Nest Folk Club brought us out, looms like it's going to be a great night!

Random thought: I think internet propaganda is a language-based problem more than anything. Everybody that speaks English gets the same firehouse of horseshit pushing rightward, no matter what country they're in. Everybody is immersed the same alternate reality, sharing the same dogma.

Pretty haggard after a long day.

Tough work day, plus of course ~*everything*~

Studio session tonight was short but productive. Tough to produce inspired improv-heavy instrumentals with so much stress lingering.

The studio dog Edie helped though.

We're offering a touch of dog-inspired respite. It's ugly out there, take a break for a second.

The optimist in me says these shenanigans will reawaken the desire for live music scenes, so that people can experience actual real music

(don't ask the pessimist in me, he sucks)

Wrote a song yesterday, but it came to me in the weirdest order: bridge first, then verses, then chorus

This year was actually pretty good for me personally. The job continues jobbing, whatever.

More exciting though, the band made a conscious decision this year to stop playing bar gigs and focus on festivals, events, and concerts and it worked as well as we could have hoped. We'll see how 2026 goes!

AI adoption here is the equivalent of U2's "Songs of Innocence" forced into every iTunes user's music library
In 2025, AI became pervasive in American life and the economy, with ChatGPT surging in adoption much faster than any other major technology in memory. @nytopinion.nytimes.com
