Got talking to a woman at the shops yesterday, her son's an ESB engineer, one of those out fixing powerlines at all hours in awful conditions. Said during the last snow he got nothing but abuse off people pissed off at how long it was taking to restore power. These guys out risking life & limb, ffs.

My mind is on Dara and her ilk. Rescue crews don’t judge. They come to your aid no matter how you got into difficulty.

But isn’t it the decent thing to leave sea swims, coast walks, mountain treks, photo ops until Storm Éowyn has passed?

Please.
Do the decent thing.
Stay home.

Ever been riding with someone new to biking or from out of town and you feel it’s your personal responsibility to protect them and keep them safe the entire ride?

Would be really great if our cities felt like this.

57 companies are responsible for 80% of global greenhouse gas emissions since 2016.

These companies include fossil fuel giants like Chevron, Shell, and BP, who have been raking in record profits.

The profits of Big Oil should not be more important than the future of our planet.
Just 57 companies linked to 80% of greenhouse gas emissions since 2016

You can drive it home today!
Do I need a special license?
Nope!
Do I need any extra driver training?
None whatsoever!
So I can just drive off in this monster truck?
Enjoy!

Strange how “maybe we could make it safer to bike” is somehow translated into Every trip across the planet must be made by bike by everyone in every situation.

The problem with telling cyclists to ride "assertively" is that, while I don't dispute that it is the best advice if you have to share the road with motor vehicles, it does basically mean "use your soft human body to try to shepherd something that weighs several tonnes and can do 70+ mph."

I can fix that for you.

there's no such thing as a cyclist.

there's you on a bike, me on a bike, your nan on her bike and the kid down the road on their bike.

none of us represent each other, how am I to blame for your nan's terrible road etiquette?
