ICYMI — “I identified myself as a U.S. citizen and a veteran, but that didn't matter. ICE Agents smashed my window, sprayed tear gas and pepper spray into my car, dragged me out… this experience violated the very principles I fought to defend.”

Thanks for highlighting this, as a Trustee of, and Science Committee member for, ME Research UK, it's super thrilling when we get to be involved in highlighting great studies looking into ME 💙
MERUK sponsored a medical research virtual 'poster' competition at the IACFS/ME conference. Winners were Jolien Hendrix (epigenetic changes & autonomic dysfunction) and Anne Gardella (circulating cell-free RNA signatures).

Lady in disabled loo queue as I arrive in my wheelchair: "I'm not using it, my mate with MS is in there"
"I don't judge, everyone has their reason"
"Do you mind me asking? What's wrong with you"
"Yes, I do mind"
"...um..."

What the fuck makes folk think it's okay to ask my private medical info?!!

Anyone who knows my work as a scientist will know how much I've championed astrocytes since the 1990s, I love them so much, I based most of my PhD work on them 💥💥💥

Today is World AIDS Day. Here's in remeberence of all we lost, love to all those living their lives, celebration of the massive research and treatment gains and a reminder to NEVER be complacent because the horrendous cutting of funding by Trump has already cost lives and dented scientific progress.

The Trump admin has decided it will no longer commemorate December 1st, World AIDS Day. Fed employees have been instructed to refrain from publicly promoting World AIDS Day through any communication channels, including social media, media engagements, speeches, or other public-facing messaging.

It is, quite frankly, shittingly hard to be a disabled performer but my wonderful group, London Bulgarian Choir, are so supportive and it makes me so happy, despite only being able to do half of the gig and spending most of the next day in bed 🤍💚❤️

Probably the most accurate post about social media I've ever read! 😂😂😂
Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

Unlike many bands, it was never about frontguy Brown, whose right note grasp was tenuous, we lived for the extended jam session, Mani, Reni, Squire sending the crowd into a frenzy, half gig, half club, full on adoration until we resurrected together and staggered home from our church fulfilled. RIP

1/ Last week, the FDA announced it’s removing the black box warning from menopause hormone therapy (MHT). This is long overdue. Menopause is universal, yet misunderstood and stigmatized. Millions of women have suffered because of fear, misinformation, and a system that wasn’t built to support them.

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.
