in 2008 I saw a couple in a late model SUV packed with their belongings pull up to a gas station AND START GOING THROUGH THE TRASH TO LOOK FOR RECYCLABLES.

This is an amazing article abt an amazing breakthrough use of an old and discredited drug and about how one company was able to raise the price without limit because it was the only treatment for a fatal disease and they cld basically raise it to as high a price as they wanted.
I have written many healthcare stories, but never before have I written about my own health. I decided to do so after learning one of my drugs costs nearly $1,000 a pill and just 25 cents to make. What I found was an incredible story of discovery and exploitation. www.propublica.org/article/revl...
The Price of Remission
When I was diagnosed with cancer, I set out to understand why a single pill of Revlimid cost the same as a new iPhone. I’ve covered high drug prices as a reporter for years. What I discovered shocked ...

I think this article is wrong in part, specifically in its account of agency, and right in part, specifically about how Bernie framed most of his message. First, I will deal with what I think it gets right 1/: 🧵

Texas conservatives who've championed book bans & anti-LGBT policies suffered big losses tonight in school board races.

And They seem to have lost their working majorities to pass their policies in big school boards.

I tracked these results in FOUR boards tonight. So a 🧵 on each ICYMI.

Always.
Always and everywhere, ideological diversity means being obligated to make way for people from the center and right. There are anarchists here. There are Blue No Matter Who Dems. There are whole worlds of disagreement between. People have vicious fights on here every day. Doesn't matter.
Bluesky needs more ideological diversity, a thread:

1/8: I think the question of why commentators like Matt Yglesias, Lakshya Jain, Noah Smith, Nate Silver and Richard Hanania don’t post more, or at all on Bluesky is important.

This would be a better platform if they did.
