One Battle After Another and Sinners both lay out a formula for cinema success: diverse movies where white nationalists get duffed in the most graphic way possible shot and presented in increasingly baroque high resolution formats.

What so games studios can just SUSTAIN? BE SUSTAINABLE? Do other studios know about this?
The chief tech officer of Clair Obscur developer Sandfall Interactive says there are no plans to expand the studio despite the game's success, because "the team we have now is just the right size" for the type of games it makes.

As always, the only real lesson you can learn from "how were they so successful" for any game that was super successful is "good for them". You can find some learnings of stuff to try carefully in the stories of small successes, perhaps. Lots to learn from failures, though.

Science fiction is not a tableau of prediction. It is an abstraction layer for examining the current paradigm in the human world, with deniability to evade trained shame and dictum. It is not a vision for the future, just as what "thinking robots" are evolved each century based on current technology

Viv is 100% correct here. Your options are always one of three:

1. Do not make an indie game.
2. Get funding, usually by making something that fits a very narrow and useless definition of "safe", and subsequently losing agency over your production reality.
3. Have another income or means.
ok but for real if you want to make a really good indie (or AA) games the number one way is "be financially comfortable via other means"

blue prince guy owned a popular website generating income, toby fox was a successful musician...

frankly if we had a UBI youd get SO MANY GOOD GAMES
