Finally got around to watching Kiss of the Spider Woman. Wretched. Props to Bill Condon for having the stones to follow the line "it's the most natural thing imaginable" with J. Lo's heavily auto-tuned singing. One of the few times I've laughed out at a movie this year.

If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

Hot take: CostCo needs to do congestion pricing. 1 membership card = 1 shopper. Additional shoppers are $10 each.

I’ve been thinking about how hard the founding fathers cooked with the Third Amendment.

Imagine being forced to house ICE. I can’t imagine they wash their hands. They’ve never done laundry in their lives. They’d break your stuff if you didn’t cut the crusts off their sandwiches.

I sympathize with art thieves, tbh. So often I'm at a museum and I think "yes it's nice that this painting is here for the public to appreciate, but where it really belongs is in my apartment."

Dear whoever decides on how to target ads,

If a person is trying to watch a YouTube tutorial for a feature in Adobe Acrobat, they probably already own Adobe Acrobat, and don't need to see an ad for it.

Seriously. Where's Sabrina Carpenter's "Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner"?
In my impending geriatricity, I feel compelled to judge the youth.

Arresting the killer is not enough justice for the loss of Jonathan Joss’ life.

His whole San Antonio neighborhood is complicit. The police are complicit. Texas is complicit. America is complicit.

And *you* are complicit if you think 1 arrest does ANYTHING to stop this from happening to us again.

I feel like a guy dying in office right as a horrific bill passes by on a single vote is actually perfect time to talk about this. He's dead, we're the ones who have to live with the selfishness of these ghouls literally clinging to power till their dying breath.
Millennials don’t have to post about “the gerontocracy” when someone’s just died a horrible death from cancer. The millennial passion for dunking on “the olds” can wait a day. Also, I guarantee that millennials will be the most insistent on holding onto their power when they reach that age.

Yup. I continue to say that AI is for those who fetishize THE IDEA and dismiss THE WORK. It's for those people who come up to writers and say, "I got a great idea for a book, I'll give it to you, you write it, and we'll split the profits 50/50," as if the idea is the hardest and most important part.
I saw someone say AI is useful because it generates ideas. My dude, I'm full of ideas. I have docs and docs marked under 'ideas.' I have outlines and fragments of stuff I might work on. Trunked stories galore. Even if I continue to write a novel a year for the next 40 years I won't run out of ideas.
