Her high visibility from the outset of her career also means no surprises. There's nothing negative to say about her that hasn't already been said ad nauseam for the past near-decade, thus no opportunity for a "Tim Walz Stolen Valor" accusation to crop up in the late stages of the campaign.

I don't think so. What swingable voters don't like about her is largely based on right-wing media smears. A broad national platform through which people become directly familiar with her is probably a benefit in this case. And she would be a huge asset in terms of motivating younger voters.

"Cabaret" is so brilliant as a title song that you *almost* don't even need the rest of the show.

Pete needs to be out of the conversation entirely. He has chosen to go the route of pundit rather than politician, and that's a perfectly acceptable choice, but until he gets elected to a qualifying office, he's not a presidential candidate.

I would say a Pritzker/AOC ticket is the best hope.

Mike Johnson is lucky Leo XIV is pope, because Francis would have just called him a f*gg*t and gone about his day.

Dear writers of amateur detective media,

Murder isn't the only crime, and is also the least plausible crime for an amateur detective to solve.

Thanks.

I do think a public excommunication for Vance is possible, especially given Leo's particular attention towards him. However, public excommunication these days is mainly reserved for prelates. I don't know of any politicians who've been excommunicated since Juan Perón.

This drives me nuts because, in theory, they all are. Every production is new and unique just by virtue of the circumstances.

I'm excited to announce I'm doing a new Bloomberg column about the business of fashion. The first column is about how we can re-shore US garment manufacturing. Instead of mass deportations and raising tariffs, I argue the government should move the industry upstream:

He murders a 7-year-old, frames a young woman for the murder, causing her to be executed, then goes on to murder two more people. Not very humane. Stop getting your literary criticism from Tumblr posts.

Del Toro's perhaps. Certainly not Shelley's.

I'm convinced Dano passed on what became Austin Butler's role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. That's about the only reason that comparison could have even occurred to him. They're not even close to the same age and no one has ever compared them before because there's no (other) reason to.

Honestly? Oliver Twist deserves a more authentically Dickensian and less uneven adaptation.

This doesn't really count, but Howl's Moving Castle is a funny, raucous novel, and would make a terrific musical, but the association with the dour Miyazaki film makes that impossible.

Christopher Hampton's Alice's Adventures Underground is the closest to a satisfying adaptation, for my taste. A bit pretentious, but that's probably why I like it.

Finally got around to watching Kiss of the Spider Woman. Wretched. Props to Bill Condon for having the stones to follow the line "it's the most natural thing imaginable" with J. Lo's heavily auto-tuned singing. One of the few times I've laughed out at a movie this year.
