Since it must be said loudly & repeatedly:

With many others, I'm an American celebrating international friendship, allies who safeguard freedom, & collaboration that respects:

🇨🇦 Canada
🇬🇱 Greenland
🇩🇰 Denmark
🇲🇽 Mexico
🇵🇦 Panama
🇪🇺 European Union
🇺🇦 Ukraine
🇿🇦 South Africa
🇺🇳 United Nations
So does the Senate voting to keep air traffic controller $ flowing

allow deportation flights to continue unhindered,

like the kind taking a friend of a friend to a country they haven't been to since they were a kid, when they came to the US as a war refugee?

It wasn't perfect.
I'd been skeptical of the whole thing.
Then it saved my life.
From the bottom of my heart-

Thanks, Obama.

WHAT?!

😂 Ok first, aside from obv freedom issues-

you can't ever stop anyone from praying, people pray silently all the time. Ask old-school Communist regimes, they tried to control it too.

Second, sounds like being around those verbal prayers may have some consciences kicking up.

DOUBLE DOWN.

This.
This morning, in Broadview, 14 suburban women were arrested during an act of civil disobedience calling for an end to ICE/CBP’s kidnappings throughout the Chicago area.

“We want to encourage other people who feel strongly about ICE’s actions to step off the sidelines and take our cities back.”

Don't do this to scholars & writers -

especially on topics like dehumanization & Muslims.

I've been an editor & a writer. I'll never forget the time an editor berated my writing over the phone. How much worse would it have been if I weren't of Euro descent & a Christian?

Respect. The. Professor.
I am so upset.

Last week Time Magazine solicited a piece from me on Zohran Mamdani & anti-Muslim hate. I pitched a framing re the dehumanization of Muslims & how Mamdani’s inclusive, socialist campaign in its content resists that. They agreed. I wrote the piece. 1/
To be asked to write about racism only to be racially aggressed in the editing process is a new level unlocked I have to say.

Mass is being held outside of the Broadview ICE facility good morning I hope November 1st. They requested access to provide communion to those detained inside though it's been denied they will still try after their Mass service.

On Nigeria:

-Several top govt leaders there are Christians.

-The first lady is herself a pastor.

-In the past year, some violence in the country has been Christians against other Christians.

-I'm acquainted w/some Methodist Nigerians.

In no way is it a simple or straightforward situation.

Also, a thing that I mention sometimes but is often lost in all that’s going on:

By RNS’ count, at least 55 religious organizations — including the leaders of entire Christian and Jewish denominations — have signed on to lawsuits against the Trump admin this year, mostly related to immigration.

"Hey Elizabeth are you quietly noting the names of pets of 20thC women preachers?"

I don't know Rufus, AM I? Sorry yes in case it's not clear one was Rufus.

"Are you also quietly noting women who preached or were taken hostage by pirates and/or Nazis while aboard ships?"

I watched or listened to a lot of the hearings.

Even with that, wow was all I could say after watching this.

It's framed really well.

There was so much fog + breaking news + overwhelm,

this is a helpful retrospective even aside from the subject himself.
BIG NEWS: When Adam Kinzinger stood up to Trump and risked everything, director Steve Pink captured it all. Meidas Studios just released our latest documentary ‘The Last Republican’ on all major platforms. Watch the movie today!

Also, if you're a citizen & they try this, don't you have the right to stay silent/in this case refuse to have your face scanned as a visual equivalent of silence? The right to stay silent is in part so you don't incriminate yourself. Isn't allowing your face to be scanned potentially incriminating?
New: Videos show ICE/CBP agents are scanning peoples' faces on the street to verify citizenship. ICE has tool to instantly look up unprecedented number of databases with just a photo

“I’m an American citizen so leave me alone”

“Alright, we just got to verify that”

Well this will be a giant lawsuit.

You can say a tech tool gives "definitive determination" all you want -

*it's not proof* and it's not judge jury and executioner.

OH MY GOSH, IF I FAIL CAPTCHA DOES THAT MEAN I'M NOT HUMAN!?

It's literally that easy to debunk this.
New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

I still find people talking at cameras holding tiny microphones or tiny floofball microphones disorienting.

When? Did this happen? Can we pinpoint their advent to a specific month? Year?

When did the landslide of Tiny Mics begin?
