So there are signs that the very unethical autodubbing feature YouTube is rolling out will be opt-out instead of opt-in. Found these on their FAQ pages for it, so please keep an eye on your channels if they ever push the dubbing to be auto-enabled.

Jesus’ tone isn’t read as sarcastic/sassy enough. Like, when he says “You say I am” in response to being asked if he’s the kind of the Jews, that’s 1000% a sarcastic reply. Hell, he’s doing gallows humor during the whole scene.

A friend asked me to go to his small, progressive Lutheran Church here in South Brooklyn/Flatbush today. (I'm empatheist—an atheist who welcomes your faith.) A thing that stuck out is that the Church has tools for addressing and contextualizing this moment that few other institutions have.

I always feel for the retail workers who have to work on Christmas Eve. It feels as if these stores remain open on Christmas Eve to rake in one extra day of holiday profit. I wish they would sacrifice that one extra day of profit so that retail workers could spend the day with their loved ones.

when you have anti-DEI proponents openly going after black military officers for recruiting from HBCUs and suing schools for their black and Hispanic enrollment *even after the schools ended any racial preferences* then the only honest label for these people is "segregationist"
I genuinely think we should start calling businesses and schools falling to the anti-DEI movement “segregationists” because they are re-segregating. And earlier rounds of segregationists *also* explained their preferred policy in race-neutral terms (“state’s rights” and “freedom of association”).

So…here’s the thing. I don’t mind most of the vaguely cat-related fan art. But I don’t want to see it on the cat pics feed. I want actual real life cat pics. The others go on a different feed.
