Enron: alright let's set up this SPE so that it can hedge our losses with this volatile asset with our own company's stock and also hide the fact that we're providing the 3% "outside" equity
Nvidia: lol let's make an SPV that buys our stuff from us

“lazy use of unwrap blew up a process and took out the internet” bzzt. wrong. judicious use of unwrap blew up a process instead of allowing an Extremely Named CVE to happen and spraying your bank account credentials all over the public internet
People want a technical solution to what is ultimately a judgement problem.

People know that unwrap can cause a panic. That's the choice that's being made when you unwrap. Changing the name won't change that.

The obscenely rich are especially vulnerable to llms because llms sound like *literally every single interaction* they have had with their entourage of sycophants for decades, and they also have not ever had to actually learn or think in that same span of time.

as a condition of funding, we were asked to affirm that we wouldn’t undertake any diversity, equity, and inclusion work, whether or not we used the government funds to do so. The PSF simply couldn’t agree to that statement,

This sort of stuff has been flooding every Linux-adjacent community I follow with huge numbers of new Linux users, eager to get away from the unwanted slop machines.
This is the future of Windows. Microsoft wants to rewrite Windows to turn computers into AI PCs that you talk to. It's now bringing AI features to all Windows 11 PCs today, in a bid to convince you to talk to your PC and let AI control it. Full details 👇 www.theverge.com/news/799768/...

It’s becoming pretty obvious that LLMs afford a culture that shares high affinity with corruption in middle and upper management because more and more white collar jobs have professionals now guided by management that seems intent on maximally checking out to their own, and only their own, benefit.

I love the #xfiles moments where Scully is writing on her computer, reflecting on the episode's case in her journals.

Usually in edit.exe or another similar editor with classic Borland color schemes.

#Factorio mod that is a circuit designer, analyzer, and debugger.

Select an existing circuit to show a node tree with all of it's combinators, inputs and outputs.

Input a Lua function and output a working circuit blueprint based on that function.

Really great #Neovim community moment:

Recently someone on Reddit suggested implementing an Emacs-like mini-buffer, and the Neovim core team immediately took it up and started planning it.
