Somehow I remember so much of this PTA commentary word for word. Many years ago in film school a professor randomly, completely out of context, said a few lines from the commentary, mocking it. I remember thinking “why did he say that, and how do I recognize those lines?!” Anyway it holds up!

I know it’s sacrilege but I skipped through every cutscene in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. But I still found myself choked up during the ending, even though I had no idea who the final boss was, what his plan was, or why we were fighting

I saw my neighbor at our local bakery today, where he called black and white cookies “half and halfs”…
…unless he follows me he’ll never know why I’m giving him the cold shoulder for the rest of my life!!!

how have I never noticed Paul Giamatti is in SINGLES before? Also I remain confused by the garage door opener culture depicted in the film-- we see two instances of people exchanging them within a week of knowing each other. This has always bothered me

After watching s1 of sopranos in one shot while refreshing watch duty like a maniac, I have shifted to this for my comfort viewing. Did you know the first band ever to play a bill signing was soul asylum?! (Were they also the last?)
Just got a call from my Republican uncle making sure I was safe from the fires. Within seconds he was telling me how this is about Ukraine and something involving fish.

In a normal society the LAFD would be overfunded. They’d have amazing drones and iron man suits. It’d make sense, they’re defending a crucial but fireprone economic engine a superpower depends on. Instead, thanks to Karen Bass and the LAPD, the LAFD recently had to cut their guy who posts on Reddit

The last two mayors of LA have clearly not wanted to be mayor of LA. It’s a pretty big job, people should be satisfied with it instead of using it to raise their profile. The next mayor should want to be mayor of LA. With the fires like 50 feet from my house, that is all I ask.

shouldn't we rebrand this whole thing the climate war and throw some of that massive defense budget at it? "Climate change" has always been a little too flat for the masses

Call me crazy but with the pacific palisades burning and crazy winds ravaging the city, maybe it wasn’t the best idea to cut the fire department budget to give the LAPD another raise..?

did NFL commentators always talk about end of season financial incentives, like "ooo watch out he needs 6 more catches today for 500k"? keeps coming up in today's games and makes it feel more running man/smash TV dystopian than it already does!!

I've gotten really into listening to podcasts while gaming. But you need a certain kind of mindless game where the audio doesn't matter. I can't tell if WWE2k24 is good or just good for this purpose but I will be unlocking doink while listening to the new yorker radio hour

Felt like no one saw it so it's nice it's in this doc, esp since it's directed by Blair Young who did many iconic @camera-obscura.bsky.social videos

I'm thrilled to see the video I directed for Brenda - Microscopic Babe in this doc!! Only music video I ever one-man-banded, shot it myself on super 8. Felt like no one saw it so it's nice it's in this doc, esp since it's directed by Blair Young who did many iconic @camera-obscura.bsky.social videos
