Presidents? SCOTUS gives them immunity.

Corporations? SCOTUS makes it easier for them to pollute.

Billionaires? SCOTUS says they can buy elections.

But if you look Latino, speak Spanish, or work at a low wage job, SCOTUS says you can be abducted by masked agents.

The legacy of the Roberts court.

ICE is running around Chicago harassing people for not being white.

Just a year ago, that was illegal in the United States and now it’s commonplace.

That’s not making America great again.
South Shore Residents Return To Ransacked Apartments After ICE Raid: 'It Looks Like Hell'
A "now renting" sign outside touts granite countertops. Inside, residents are trying to make sense of the raid that made their already neglected building even worse.

Trump—Mr. Art of the Deal—hasn’t been able to cut a deal for the most basic government functions.

Republicans bowed down to Trump, and now people all across this country will suffer.

I ask my Republican colleagues to grow a spine and stand up for Americans.

I really don’t understand how Johnson can keep his job. Clearly he’s not performing his job.

Something the Democrats could do is to propose a vote of no confidence for the Speaker and get Johnson out. I bet there would be enough Republicans to vote Yes. Any alternative has to be better.
Dean: The president is unhinged

Johnson: A lot of folks on your side are too. I don’t control him

Dean: Oh my god, please. That performance in front of the generals.

Johnson: I didn’t see it.

Dean: Our allies are looking elsewhere. Our enemies are laughing.

Sincerely loved Spain. And espressos y cafe americanos are delicious! But there’s still something amazing and comforting about my daily 8 cups of regular American joe.

At least the public outcry against the Trump EPA plan gives me a little hope that ALL of the work we’ve accomplished over the last 50 years. But at this point it’s tough to believe the WILL OF THE PEOPLE can actually any of the republicans.
Experts and members of the public voiced overwhelming opposition to the US EPA’s plan to rescind its key greenhouse gas “endangerment finding” and vehicle emissions standards.
Public commenters overwhelmingly oppose EPA’s plan to curtail key climate protections
The question is, does it matter?

This is DC, for those interested in the real DC. DC is a place where 700,000 people live, work, laugh, love, worship, play, and more. This city-state is our beloved home.

Washington DC has 702,000 people, is 45% Black and has 0 senators

Wyoming has 590,000 people, is 86% white and has 2 senators

DC needs a state with proper representation, not a military takeover

This rhetoric is so disgusting. I felt safe as a resident of DC for over 20 years. Certainly crime went up and down, the same as in every city. But a handful of people who don’t leave Capitol Hill should not have any say in the governance of DC. #DCStatehood NOW.

I think the idea that “The President is simultaneously an institution beyond the reach of criminal law and also a private person who can file $10 billion defamation suits when he dislikes a news article” is not very sensible.

And it’s such ridiculously simple math. Why is it so hard for our elected officials get this right.
The yearly pay at the federal minimum wage:

$15,080

The average yearly cost of a 1 bedroom apartment in the United States:

$17,340

We need living wages and lower housing costs. This is not sustainable.

My son was 1 when leaders posed for the cameras & pledged to keep temperatures BELOW the ‘safe level’ of 1.5C.

He was 10 when the Earth spent an entire year ABOVE 1.5C.

We’re on track for 4C within his lifetime.

Our children are being betrayed & their futures obliterated.

This is such an important talking point. An argument from the right is that solar and wind shouldn’t be subsidized because the market should support them. Fossil fuel has always been subsidized in the US at our expense. We need more support for clean energy and efficiency!
In 2022 government fossil fuel subsides reached $7,000,000,000,000.

In 2024 Earth was hotter than it has been in about 125,000 years.

THESE. THINGS. ARE. CONNECTED.

Blame is not helpful after tragedy hits. But it’s clear that more staff and investment can help minimize those losses. What’s clear is that we need to double down investments in weather modeling, communication and early warning systems, resilience and mitigation so this NEVER happens again.

Trump’s economic plan: Tax cuts for everyone, massive new spending for defense & ICE, no serious spending cuts (except for health care, education, jobs, & clean energy), record deficits, massive tariffs, reduced exports, but Trust in Trump it will all work out eventually somehow.

Like I've said before, if you have any doubts about climate change, just go to a super-boring insurance conference and listen to the super-boring panels where they dryly talk about the growing threat of disasters so catastrophic and unpredictable in scope they simply cannot be insured at any price.
Wild how the Fed chair saying that *entire regions of the United States* won’t be able to get a mortgage in the next decade barely registered as a news event

You know how Trump often tells on himself? Has anyone investigated Trumps use of the auto pen in his first term?
Q: Have you uncovered evidence that anything was signed without Biden's knowledge?

TRUMP: I don't think Biden would know

Q: I'm asking if you've uncovered any information

TRUMP: No. But I've uncovered the human mind. I was in a debate with the human mind.

I’m very confused (and disappointed) that it costs an extra $200/year in registration fees to own an electric vehicle in Ohio vs gas vehicle. R.C.4503.10(C)(3)(4) @repgreglandsman.bsky.social Do you know the justification? Is this something that could be revisited and revised?
