'chateau in France'

🤔
‘Speaking outside his chateau in France, former Brexit Party and UKIP MEP Coburn answered "no" when a BBC journalist asked him whether he had ever been paid to give a speech to promote pro-Russian campaigners.’

Great work from @BBCWales. Keep going

Trump: “I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries … denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization.“

Net migration has fallen again to 204,000, the lowest level since 2021 and is forecast to continue falling over the coming years.

Not that you would know it from the endless coverage of Britain's supposed "immigration crisis"

Most of the public think net migration increased last year, when in fact numbers halved.

New findings from the Ipsos/British Future Immigration Attitudes Tracker show that 56% of the public thinks immigration increased last year. Just 1 in 6 realise it was down

‘cowboys who tamed the West’

A reminder that the West wasn't exactly 'tamed' but brutally colonised through military campaigns, broken treaties and forced removals.

Diseases such as smallpox and measles together with profound ecological disruption finished the job.

I’m a past winner of the Orwell Prize & won partly because I exposed Vote Leave’s unlawful activities.

Michael Gove was its co-convener & refused to answer a single q. He’s now a judge of the prize & our world is truly one that Orwell would recognise

How to legitimise invading a smaller country with a smaller army. Bad news for Ukraine, Taiwan, Gaza, Greenland, Panama and Venezuela.
Q: You're not worried that Witkoff is too pro-Russian?

TRUMP: Look, ahh -- this war could go on for years. Russia has got a lot more people. A lot more soldiers. So I think if Ukraine can make a deal it's a good thing.

Excellent summary of Farage's life-long history of 'playground banter'.

Everyone else would just call it racism.
Nigel Farage has been a lifelong racist. He's been a racist since his school days. David Lammy was forced to apologise for saying Farage flirted with the Hitler Youth - but what do you call it when someone sings Hitler Youth songs? Read Chloe Deakin's letter on Farage's fascism and racism at school.

“I told the president that the Russian Federation has always wanted a peace deal. That’s my belief. [...] And I believe the issue is is that we have two nations that are having a hard time coming to a compromise,” Witkoff told Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov.
