Never in the history of the US has any president openly and repeatedly called for the investigation, arrest & prosecution of his political opponents. While many continue to shrug these things off and normalize them, I will never stop pointing out that this is what autocrats do.

An embarrassingly obvious point, but...

This. Is. Illegal.

If anything like the rule of law were in force, Trump couldn't arbitrarily increase a tariff because he is annoyed.

In important and increasing ways, the rule of law in the US no longer exists.

The post from the Reagan Foundation is just complete gibberish.

The ad did not, in fact, misrepresent Reagan's views. But the idea that anyone needs the Reagan Foundation's goddamn permission to use the publicly broadcast official remarks of a former president and/or edit them for brevity is crazy

It remains genuinely astonishing that someone as obsessed with tariffs as President Donald Trump can also be so maddeningly ignorant about how they actually work.
Trump says he wants higher prices and also lower prices
The president somehow believes that tariffs can deliver wins for both producers and consumers. It's maddening.

To be honest, the quality of call-center customer service has gotten so bad that it is usually worse than a chatbot. And since most chatbots seem to be just automated FAQs, that's pretty bad.

But I can’t shake the feeling that Trump pushed too far too fast.

Maybe this isn’t the end of democracy — maybe it’s the moment it remembers to fight back.

The fact that they are still doing the "Soros-paid protestors" bit is just an incredible testimony to the durability of certain tropes to negate the popular will, regardless of the lack of evidence.
Sen. Roger Marshall: "October 18 is when the protest gets here. This will be a Soros paid-for protest for his professional protesters. The agitators show up. We'll have to get the National Guard out. Hopefully it will be peaceful. I doubt it."

He doesn’t so instead he’s forcing the govt to bring charges against his enemies because he wants vengeance

Vice President J.D. Vance and Sen. Cynthia Lummis are among the latest conservatives to turn their backs on free speech when it comes to their ideological opponents.
