Fusion voting works even in single-winner elections: multiple parties can nominate the same candidate, form clear pre-election coalitions, and give voters real choices. @leedrutman.bsky.social @newamerica.org @politicalreform.newamerica.org @pbs.org

🗳️ Fusion voting — where a candidate can appear on multiple party lines — could be a tool to break through hyper-partisan gridlock, give voters more choice, and boost turnout in today’s polarized climate. Learn more from @civicleague.bsky.social: www.nationalcivicleague.org/ncr-article/...

Fusion voting lets parties cross-endorse the same candidate on multiple ballot lines — a simple, intuitive idea that gives voters more choice and lets coalitions form in the open.

Fusion voting is even more crucial as democracy is increasingly at risk.
The NJ Supreme Court must rethink its stance on the fusion voting ruling, arguing that allowing candidates to appear on multiple party lines would strengthen democracy and give voters a more meaningful choice.

Other states—with strong constitutions and independent courts—can help spark a nationwide resurgence of fusion voting. There is light at the end of the tunnel, if ordinary people are willing to pull us through. This isn’t about politics. It’s about democracy. @protectdemocracy.org

Fusion voting. Why it matters, how it reshapes party power, and what it could unlock beyond our rigid two-party system. If you care about real competition and choice, this one resonated with us for a reason. 🗳️ @leedrutman.bsky.social @newamerica.org substack.com/home/post/p-...

Voters should be able to vote for candidates who reflect their values. Candidates should choose the ballot lines on which they run, and parties should nominate the candidates they want. When those rights are denied, democracy suffers, and voter participation drops.

Fusion voting isn’t the be-all, end-all of reform, but it’s an essential step toward a healthier democracy and a more representative political future.

Fusion voting lets candidates appear on both a major and minor party line—like Dem/WFP in CT & NY or GOP/Conservative on the right. When a minor party can swing even 4% of the vote, it gains real leverage to push for policy change. @wisconsinexaminer.com

Fusion voting creates an opening: you can form a party, organize, and push the major parties to adopt real ideas — instead of the endless “you’re evil, no you’re evil” cycle that’s eroding faith in democracy. @leedrutman.bsky.social @newamerica.org @politicalreform.newamerica.org

Fusion voting lets your vote for a third party actually matter — especially when someone talks to you face-to-face about issues that matter. Politics shouldn’t just be TikTok & TV; trust grows when we listen, engage, and connect.

Fusion used to be legal everywhere 100+ years ago, but today it really only exists in NY, CT, and a few limited cases elsewhere. So if you’ve never heard of it, you’re not alone.
