We need a strong coalition where progressives and moderates can actually work together to push back against creeping authoritarianism. Fusion voting makes that possible — building real, visible coalitions instead of forcing people into silos. @bradlander.bsky.social

Fusion voting advocates say the system makes politics more dynamic. Voters don’t always fit neatly into big-tent parties — and those broad coalitions often discourage parties from distancing themselves from their most extreme members. @wisconsinexaminer.com

With fusion voting, voters could back a viable candidate on the GOP line or on, say, the @unitedkansas.bsky.social party line—created for those fed up with both parties’ extremes. It’s a path forward that respects freedom of association and gives voters the broader choices they want.

Through the 1800s, fusion voting was common nationwide — the GOP itself began in Wisconsin as a fusion party formed by voters who felt Democrats and Whigs weren’t doing enough to end slavery. Eventually, the major parties teamed up to ban the practice in most states. @wisconsinexaminer.com

It’ll be fascinating to watch groups like United Wisconsin, United Kansas, or the NJ Moderate Party — they could build a center voting bloc with outsized influence.

Big parties must now work with their minor partners, creating more meaningful representation via Fusion Voting.
