It’s not that “vaccines don’t cause autism” is besides the point, but from the POV of a parent to a child with autism and co-occurring autoimmune disease, I know that our bodies are waaaay more complex than our current language around “cause” can possibly address.

I told my girls (7 and 11) that I would make a #GTMD donation for them to an organization that did work that mattered to them. I didn't make suggestions. The youngest chose Como Zoo and the oldest Bridget for Youth. 🥹

Has anyone done actual in-depth reporting on the broken car windows thing? I’m tired of reading Nextdoor posts blaming bad parenting and weak prosecutors. Why are there cars with broken windows in my neighborhood almost every morning? Is there anything to do about it?

Every time this hits the news, I get reminded that people think children are merely vessels to input things into, not complex humans in their own right. Are YOU operating in work / life the same way you did before the pandemic, JANET? Why do we hold children to standards we can’t meet ourselves ffs

I think we should be shouting this from the rooftops.
Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.
