Is it possible that some children had adverse reactions to a vaccine? If so, the susceptibility to that was already there. The vaccine doesn’t cause it. Saying vaccines cause autism is the same as saying pollen causes allergies, and the CDC throwing doubt on going outside.

My daughter is autistic because of genetics. Full stop. But the expression of those genes are impacted by a million environmental factors. Her susceptibility to neuroinflammation is genetic. But how that impacts her is unique.

Yeah, I never really questioned it! But it is weird. Just important distinction with “running away” which implies conscious choice.

It’s a term used to describe a real risk for many kids with disabilities. I have never heard it used in the context of willfully running away. My daughter eloped for a time as an extreme expression of fight or flight.

Oh yeah, I know. Our 11 yo swears like a sailor and it doesn’t bother me honestly. It was more of a pretty funny way for her to learn it (she is 7 now btw, no longer the toddler in the photo. So she stayed innocent a long time)
