One crisp autumn day, on a whim, I sent some haiku to a few friends via SMS. It started a journey that changed my life.

This fall, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of @tinywords.com. Here's more about that story and a haiku workshop I'm leading soon:

“I’m tired of Google mansplaining to me,” one of my friends said recently.

In fact, we can barely open an email, a document, or a search engine without some overeager AI interrupting us with its faux-solicitous recommendations.

"I’m free today because of this advocacy,” Soliman said. “Don’t underestimate your voice."
Children's hospital chaplain Ayman Soliman, whose detention sparked a community uproar and became a test of counterterrorism powers in immigration court, was released from an Ohio jail Friday as DHS abruptly withdrew its case against him.

“This is beyond my dreams,” he told ProPublica.

Last weekend, on a sunny balcony overlooking Monterey Bay, with cocktail chatter in the near background and sea lions barking in the distance, I talked about love with a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army Special Forces.

"One top GEO technique involves using AI to write AI-friendly pages — bots writing for bots."

Count me out! This proliferation of bots is the exact opposite of economic, societal, and cognitive efficiency
How's the mass rollout of AI going? My new 2-parter in Axios. Part 1: bot-vs-bot dynamics will bring new kinds of friction and over-optimization that, paradoxically, will make sharing ideas and buying goods online *less* efficient. www.axios.com/2025/08/22/a...
AI bots will soon overrun humans on the internet
Interactions between bots will dominate the new era, transforming everyday encounters into markets or arms races.

Enough is enough. I can't stand by while Gaza starves.

We owe it to the people of Gaza - to the hostages - and to our own humanity - to stand against this.

I'm looking for BlueSky accounts to follow that post only poetry (theirs or others'). The occasional cry of frustration and rage about the news is inevitable, but a few accounts that are ~90% poetry and art in my feed would be nice. Thank you for your recommendations.

The process of attempting to write something and realizing, partway through, that your argument makes no sense is *incredibly* valuable. Writing helps you think through your ideas. ChatGPT will write up nonsensical sludge, and you'll miss your opportunity to change your mind.
