For day 2 in learning more Haskell, I had to use cabal and set up a proper project to get a couple utilities. Bonus points if you know why I had to switch from regex-posix to regex-pcre

I just completed "Gift Shop" - Day 2 - Advent of Code 2025 #AdventOfCode adventofcode.com/2025/day/2

It’s more than 4 but over the last week I’ve made it through most of Mike Leigh’s filmography. He may be my new favorite director and Secrets & Lies entered my four favorites.

Look I won’t contribute much posting into the void, but:

I like the musical. Ari is great. Cynthia is generational. The movie was not very good! I’m sorry!

Been catching up on all the PTA

I am so glad that I didn’t watch movies like Magnolia and The Master back when I was into movies for the Memento/Prestige/Reddit-favored twists and turns of it all. This filmography seems like one that will age with me, and hopefully I age half as well

Not pictured that I also watched since my last post: Nickel Boys and East of Eden. Those are both 5 stars to me and made this overall a great movie week

Not sure what hid harder, seeing Se7en on a giant IMAX screen, or getting out of a showing of Better Man realizing I liked it better than Nosferatu

The golden globes are a joke regardless, so I'm trying not to be too pissed off. But the oscars — the least unserious of all the awards — release nominations in under 2 weeks, and you can rest assured I will annoy everybody

Apparently people are gaining lots of followers, I can post more about movies if I’ll make mutuals who care about them 🤪

WICKED is catching fire because 1) the stage show is great 2) the performances are great. But there's also a much bigger conversation about technical form and history, but holy crud am I happy that audiences are eating it up. Wrote about it all here! www.patreon.com/posts/116792...

I caught Gladiator II yesterday and while there's a lot of ways you could bemoan and compare to the first film, I think there's three interesting conversations to come out of it. G2: On Acting, Inertia, and Empire. Enjoy! www.patreon.com/posts/116585...

It always made up a part of my media diet, but over the last year I've pretty much stopped watching Youtube entirely? But in the last six months I've been all in on DROPOUT. So I wrote about the current media ecosystem and the joys of "light entertainment." Enjoy! www.patreon.com/posts/116338...

Seen a lot of people posting their #Letterboxd top 20 from 2024. Here are mine, keeping in mind that there are some very anticipated movies I haven't seen yet (I have a ticket for Anora tonight)
