Adoptees are born into families that they are forever linked ro by lineage. We are the sum of generations of traits. Nothing changes that. Our "forever home" was taken from us by adoption. Adoptive parents can play whatever denial games they like, but in crucial ways, we aren't their kids. 🥚

I break with many critics of #adoption because i advocate for more than the end of secrecy. We are told that adoption provides a child with stability, but we are never told why the change of legal kinship status must be irrevocable. I believe adult adoptees should be able to annul their adoptions.

“Adoption is so expensive” doesn’t mean thé person adopted is safe from neglect and abuse. Many adopted ppl experience neglect, abuse, even murder. You can argue that lack of access to family, identity and medical history is abuse all by itself. #adoption #childabuse #neglect #adopteerights

did you know that intercountry #adoptees born before 1983 have no guarantee of US citizenship, and instead are treated as immigrants who must obtain citizenship through naturalization? That they are subject to deportation if they have committed a crime or are deemed to be in the US “illegally?”
