I taught myself math from scratch and in case anyone else needs that help I'll make a thread for it.

Before we really get started these are what you need to go get. I personally prefer pen over pencil though.

Print seems to be dying but I wouldn't mind if more critics pivoted to video content. There's a way for the work to live on in a more popular medium.
Some news: yesterday was my last at Rolling Stone. For now, I'm going solo, doing all my TV reviewing, recapping, etc., at my newsletter. I hope you'll consider subscribing. Many more details here:

Sepinwall was one of the critics whose work I read to learn how to write TV criticism. This is unconscionable.

Arts criticism is going down the drain...
Rolling Stone fired Alan Sepinwall, Status’ Oliver Darcy reports. That’s probably the end of my subscription.

The Pitt is fantastic & deserved the win on quality alone—but that 15 ep order is a ray of hope for me as well. Thought experiment I always ask people to do; what if there had only been 8 episodes in S1? Or 10? Doesn’t bear thinking about. The season was a terrific rich meal & I’m so happy for them.
the pitt meant so much to me this year, i'm so grateful for it

Such lovely winners, such good shows, such an ineptly done telecast. It might be one of the worst-executed awards shows I’ve covered, and I’ve been covering them for almost 20 years.
8 takeaways from a so-so Emmys night
The Studio, The Pitt and Adolescence took home top prizes on Sunday. And while the wins were deserving, the telecast was meh. Here are a few takeaways from a night that was a real mixed bag.

Once upon a time, Platonic absolutely would have been a Seth Rogen/Rose Byrne film. But the Apple comedy's second season, out now, is a reminder that the movies' loss has sometimes been TV's gain. My review:
'Platonic' Reminds You That Big-Screen Comedy Has Migrated to TV
Once upon a time, this Seth Rogen-Rose Byrne show would have been playing at a theater near you. The movies' loss is the streaming era's gain.
