As with trans people, DEI, gay marriage, immigrants and Islam, the right is obsessed with cataloging imagined societal harms from porn. Which I suspect means them obsessing about it.

Anyway, nice to see them shout out the free speech demons fighting censorship at @fsc.bsky.social.

Heritage Foundation, backers of Project 2025, have issued a call to criminalize porn by detailing specific types of imagery that should be illegal, including "deviate sexual intercourse," "female genitals," and "nudity."

Only "civilizing" images that point to "marital sex" should be allowed.

- I think this is the most sincere and dedicated attempt to repeal S230 that we’ve seen this decade
- No idea if it passes. I think it has an elevated shot. The writing is on the wall, those in power have designs for the Internet we know and love

Got an email from my Senator. Seemed in support of "improving online safety for kids."

Whats important is that a few bills are being refered to the Senate (CST) Committee:

- S. 737 (SCREEN) Act
- S. 5364, App Store Accountability Act
- S. 1748, KOSA

Tell them to vote NO.

The house companion bill has ZERO cosponsors. The outlook for this bill is not great, even if this is a more serious attempt at pushing it.

We should still be vigilant, we should be calling our senators and such, but again, this is an uphill battle for them.

I think the S230 repeal has a good chance of going through, but not a great one

10% of the senate sponsoring it in some shape or form should be a clear and obvious sign that this isn’t just going to die in committee bc of Ted Cruz being petty over Blackburn, one of many cosponsors
I'm dooming really hard about this right now... How likely do you think it is that this gets signed into law?

If section 230 gets repealed, it would pretty much end the Internet as we know it + if EU chat control goes through

Together with how much both community AND essential services have been gutted from being easily accessible offline and everything is digital and into cloud it will be devastating.
