If I only had to stay at a job five years… I would have some decent pensions.
Marjorie Taylor Greene's resigning in time to get a pension is a lesson to everyone.

Most Americans don't get *any* pension anymore, but Congress gave itself a pension after only five years of work.

Our "representatives" aren't working for us, they are [barely] working for themselves.

Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

I think I am going to be sick.
SEVENTEEN strikes.
Sex trafficking on Meta platforms was both difficult to report and widely tolerated. Instagram’s former head of safety testified that when she joined Meta in 2020 she was shocked to learn the company had a “17x” strike policy for accounts that engaged in the “trafficking of humans for sex.”

It’s getting harder and harder to find anything on Google. It would be super cool if they returned search results based on quality not who can pay more.

Have you noticed less beauty in your feeds the last 6+ weeks? Fewer gasps of awe? Fewer prompts to consider a universal perspective; to ask big questions? While much of US spending is on decreasing bad things, NASA is a perfect example of increasing the good ✨ Here's a new JWST image!

M & M kudos were a fav. I really do find it funny how these things were advertised as health foods lol
I DEMOLISHED these things

Must have gone through a box a week at my house in middle school
Kudos Bars (1986-2017): A line of chocolate-covered chewy granola bars, marketed as a healthier snack for kids, despite ostensibly being candy bars. Available in flavors like chocolate chip, peanut butter, cookies n creme, and many more. then eventually actual candy variants like Snickers and M&Ms.

The best time to want a specific book you own and find that it’s not where you thought it would be is 10:44 pm. Really the best time. And now I can not stop thinking about that specific book, even though I have 100 more I can read.

I’ve seen so much coverage that makes the survivors seem abstract and downplays the scope of the horrors these women endured when they were still children. Listen to survivors. Amplify their stories if they are willing to share them. Don’t force them or expect them to, but listen to them if they are
THIS IS IT.

THIS IS THE ONE.

FOLLOW THE LEAD OF THE SURVIVORS ALWAYS.

Help make this go viral. Please.

I agree so much with this. People who are lucky enough to not have been abused don’t understand how traumatizing it is. And also… it’s really telling when the mainstream media is framing children as adults. If someone is under 18, they are a child. That’s it. They are children.
For the love of God & all Her works can ppl stop making jokes about child abuse & Trump/Epstein? Show some empathy with survivors you ghouls.

Also NYT, ‘young women’ is not a synonym for girls. Stop normalising child abuse.

At least 1 in 5 adults was abused as a child.

I tend to prefer Ireland/UK covers over US, but this is one I really like the US cover.
U.S. vs U.K./Ireland covers for Oyinkan Braithwaite's Cursed Daughters.

Thoroughly enjoyed this multi-generational novel of flawed women navigating family superstitions and secrets, a twist on nature vs nurture, men compounding and confounded by an inherited curse.

I lost someone to COVID and most people I know lost someone. I have never understood why people were so eager to have collective amnesia rather than acknowledge grief and trauma. That would also mean though that people would have to evaluate how they contributed to the mass death by their choices.
Every time Covid and learning loss hits the news, people act like the only factor is folk staying home and learning online, rather than… Living through a global mass death event.

This is just a continuation of previous atrocities committed against women in detention in the US, particularly women of color. This is not new. It’s awful, and cannot continue.
“Many of the women say that they were pressured to have unwanted or unnecessary gynecological procedures while in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement”
"They tried to shut me up by deporting me."
