Our local book club was lucky enough to have Mindy Mejia and @kathleenwest.bsky.social attend tonight to discuss their recent books. Really lucky there’s such a great book culture in this area.

I know my friends love getting random messages about my monstera. Half the twin cities has a cutting of Gary (my first monstera), but now introducing Gilgamesh.

It is mid October in Minnesota. It feels weird to still have produce coming in regularly.

That time of year to start seed saving for fall sowing and for planting next spring. Have started with beans and then a native plant, partridge pea.

Who writes these. How do you go from children being m*rdered to self help books in the same sentence. How friggen tone deaf. Two guesses on what paper it is.

Had a great time tonight. Super glad that @bschillace.brandyschillace.com had a MN stop on their book tour. Feel really lucky to have events like these. Really encourage people to read the book. If you’ve ever felt you had to mask who you were, this book represents that feeling so well.

Could not figure out what was devastating my dill. Guess I know now. We’ve had so many cool butterflies and moths. There was a hummingbird hawk moth the other night but didn’t have my phone to take a photo.

We have a mix who’s part Plott Hound. We call her the Plop Hound. Able to go out midwinter and find shed antlers, also looks at your sideways if you expect her up before 10 am. Picture for tax.

Volunteered at an adoption event today. How can you say no to this face? Also not this cat, but somehow it’s always the spicy cats that I get drawn to, no clue why.

This monarch must have just hatched and was hanging out letting its wings dry. I am more excited to see insects as an adult than I was as a child. We’ve had so many cool bees and butterflies this year, I really need a job that lets me photograph the bugs in my yard.

I did not plant this pumpkin plant. It grew from compost. My pumpkins are never this good when I plant them myself lol

After my post about native plants, had to share a few that are in bloom. The entire area was buzzing with different bees.

This… this is a single scoop at a local ice cream place that has vegan options.

Two days of working the Minnesota Yacht Club festival and one day of attending. I am tired, but it was a great experience.

I don’t always make spring rolls but when I do it’s because I need a vehicle for peanut butter.

I need a name for the bunny living in my garden. Are they devastating my kohlrabi? Yes. Do I have the heart to do anything about it? No. So now I just grid water so that I don’t accidentally soak them.

Had the time and opportunity to see @ruthwarewriter.bsky.social in conversation with @alleneskens.bsky.social today. Love that MN has all of these opportunities.

I volunteer with a rescue and sometimes get perks like helping socialize feral kittens after they’ve been rescued. There’s a lot of joy when one finally snuggles in and decides not all humans are horrible.

Got some free prickly pear cacti last summer and planted them. Went out this spring and thought with the lack of snow, the winter had killed them beyond recovery. Apparently they weren’t all dead, just mostly dead and are sending up new growth. And yes, there are native cacti in MN.

I found this weird little clover in our clover patch. It’s so pretty.

I did not plant this lettuce. It planted itself. How is it one of the best looking plants I have right now?

One of my favorite types of garden flowers has started to bloom. They’re all a surprise to me as we got them when a family friend’s farm was taken by eminent domain for a highway. We were able to dig up a ton of their irises.
