I need people to understand that the Gaiman piece won’t make skeptics—including Gaiman fans—more supportive of the survivors. There is no amount of evidence is enough for misogynists who think rape is fine.

A lot of people are telling me the culture war is, in fact, just a subtle distraction for the real class war on going. Huge if true. Not something I'd heard before, so I will have to look into it. But the ramifications are quite large if that should turn out to be the case. Will keep yinz informed.

Largely agree with this. It definitely seems more that certain structural configurations create paths of least resistance. Reminds me of an ever-salient Pynchon line in Gravity's Rainbow: "a million bureaucrats are diligently plotting death, and some of them even know it"
one of my iron clad beliefs is that there are very few actual “schemes” in the world. instead, there are just a lot of stupid, venal people and quite a few of them hold positions of real power and authority
"Corporate leadership is as stupid as everyone else and freaked out about viral shoplifting videos" isn't as exciting as "the pharmacies are doing fascist performance art so they can uh murder all poor people" but sometimes things really are just stupid
