I’ve spent years of my life trying to explain to people that anti-trans conservatism naturally flows from their belief that children in the American nuclear family are not individuals with autonomy, but instead property of the parents and state, and this guy just… tweeted it out

It really, really ought to be illegal for Doug Ford to use government money to run ads for what a good job he's doing

I just feel like 2.5D games never have very good readability to me. The characters fail to stand out against the background

Alt text: a graph showing a massive spike in anti-trans articles per 30 days.

The x axis starts in 2012, most of the spike is just in the last decade

The spike really starts to kick in around 2017 or so, corresponding almost *perfectly* with powerful sexual predators feeling threatened by MeToo.
a stat i always cite is the number of anti-trans articles in the press went from 60 in a year, to 7,500

Hey. I'm supposed to be getting a lot of bedrest this month. Video games take too much concentration. Social media makes me sad. I wanna read some books. Recommend me books.

Here's some books I really like so you know what I like / what there's no point recommending mastodon.social/@mcc/1160597...

What I'm listening to today: "Sex", the Necks

Jazz music for electronic music fans with long attention spans. This hits a satisfying loungy groove in its first second then digs into it for *an hour*, like a knob is being very slowly turned up on a single emotion.

"You don't need quantum cryptography if you have boats". This is a very odd sentence which I just actually said out loud and furthermore, I am correct.

*wavers hand* the history overlaps a bit here

a LOT of things being adapted into anime currently began as webserials being written in Japan on boards covering the exact niche as what gets called LitRPG in western contexts, and were then adapted to light novels

"So I'm a Spider" is one of those.

actually litRPG is exactly the community! See most of these stories come from manga, and the manga come from light novels, and the light novels come from web novels, and the web novels come from exactly these places!

There's a particular anime sub-genre I'm trying to figure out how to describe. "RPG Realist" or "D&D Realist". Anime set in a fantasy world that's not just D&D 1979-inspired, but where mechanics of D&D or Dragon Warrior are real and characters know about them. People know their "levels" or "skills".
