The older I get, the more I see myself as a Humanist above all else.

One lifetime. One shared, enclosed biosphere to protect and nurture for our progeny. Greed is the problem.

Fundamentally, the reason I avoid Covid is because all - all - of the elements of my life that bring me joy and fulfillment rest on my cardiovascular fitness and / or my cognition. I'm not going to risk a virus wrecking that, as I've seen happen to way too many people I know.

The mindset that drives me to avoid Covid is exactly the same mindset that has kept me sober for over 18 years: recognition of the dangers of normalisation and complacency, a desire to optimise my health, and knowing that fleeting doubts are easily quashed by seeing consequences.

One of the best ways to cripple Russia’s ambitions longterm would be to moonshot renewables development then spread the tech everywhere super-cheap. Russia produces nothing of significance beyond oil and gas. The economy would tank. Plus a huge win in the fight against the climate crisis.

I remain baffled that no auto company has tried to make the EV equivalent of the original Beetle -- a small, practical, bare-bones car, with none of the touchscreen bells & whistles, cheap enough for working Americans to afford. Just an electric motor on wheels.

Is there not enough profit there?

Has anyone in the #longcovid research world done any studies using the mountain of data available on sites like Strava? Changing trends in number of activities, number of kms run, heart rate averages etc? So many athletes recording data all around the world, trends must be discernible.

People really don’t understand that their health is their most important possession until they lose it. There’s a sense of invincibility about us until the day we crash into the new kingdom of disability and chronic illness.
Then we understand!
