Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

Well-written and informative. To sum-AI does not belong in educational spaces.
“While the AI industry claims its models can “think,” “reason,” and “learn,” their supposed achievements rest on marketing hype and stolen intellectual labor. In reality, AI erodes academic freedom, weakens critical reading, and subordinates the pursuit of knowledge to corporate interests.”
AI Is Hollowing Out Higher Education
Olivia Guest & Iris van Rooij urge teachers and scholars to reject tools that commodify learning, deskill students, and promote illiteracy.

But sure-let’s just keep forcing into school curriculum.
the most popular smartphone maker in history literally had to stop using "AI" because it would constantly just make things up and had zero contextual "understanding" of what it was doing

Why would @nbcnews.com deliberately state that the turnout today for #NoKings was “thousands,” rather than millions?

#Tech is advancing beyond the basic understanding of the general user. As it does so, it promotes an evolving #DigitalDivide. This is by design, so skilled users have greater access to power and capital.

Please share and boost! Tomaquag Museum (one of my favorite museum/visits of all time) had over $2mil in approved Fed grants halted and are facing layoffs and stalled work that will affect so much of their mission. They’re asking for donations and we can step up to help.

Nazi playbook.
There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

America’s children deserve better than this.

One thing that comes through awfully clearly in these ICE videos is how many of these goons gravitated toward the job because being able to assault people with impunity is a big thrill for them.

I am on the recovery side of #Covid thanks to #Paxlovid. The delay in approving the latest vax seriously affected my health. #Anti-vaxxers are the bottom feeders for intellect, and #JFKjr really wants citizens to die.

K-12 teachers using AI to produce lesson plans that may be riddled with errors is a terrible next step from what’s been happening for the last two decades, which is a turn away from subject content expertise to tech expertise and a constant chasing of pedagogical fads.
Now think about what it’s doing to our children that some teachers are relying on it to develop lesson plans that no one is fact- or bias-checking.

Actual science here. Not bullet points out of context. “Solved Autism.” 🤯
They will “solve” cancer next by denying MRIs, CT scans, and ultrasounds, etc.

AUTISM and TYLENOL

A study of 2.5 million children showed a small association between acetaminophen use during pregnancy and autism—but this finding DISAPPEARED when full siblings were compared.

“Acetaminophen use during pregnancy was not associated with children’s risk of autism…”

“It lacks the humility to acknowledge uncertainty.” Up to 48% of the time, models are hallucinating. WHY is there an insistence on integrating in schools?!
#OpenAI #ChatGPT #DigitalDivide
“'Like students facing hard exam questions, large language models sometimes guess when uncertain, producing plausible yet incorrect statements instead of admitting uncertainty,' the researchers wrote in the paper. 'Such ‘hallucinations’ persist even in state-of-the-art systems and undermine trust.'”
OpenAI admits AI hallucinations are mathematically inevitable, not just engineering flaws
In a landmark study, OpenAI researchers reveal that large language models will always produce plausible but false outputs, even with perfect data, due to fundamental statistical and computational limi...

"Harvard can't use race as a factor in admissions, but ICE can use race as a factor in detentions" is a retrenchment essentially to a pre-Civil War understanding of the Constitution. It's vanishingly few steps removed from "Latinos have no rights which the white man is bound to respect."

Abhorrent.
Not enough people are talking about the blatant, consistent targeting of Black people, and especially Black excellence, and especially Black women.
From major cities with Black mayors, including LA, DC, Chicago, NYC & Baltimore; to Tish James to Lisa Cook to General Charles Brown (and much more).
Long before she joined the Fed, Lisa Cook stood out in a field dominated by white men. She talked about how her experience with racism informed her approach to economics.
Now, she is Trump’s latest target in his effort to exert more control over the central bank.

Another Starlink outage just as the Trump regime is making states re-do their broadband expansion plans to move $$ away fr fiber builds to lining Elon’s pockets with tax dollars for satellite Internet
