When I got the contract to write a history of concentration camps in 2014, I hoped to keep the US from ending up here. That didn't work out! But now it's critical to understand how much is already in process and the enormity of what's coming. The sooner we act to stop it, the more people we'll save.

My thinking is that fleeing the USA will only buy you time; it will be important for a few and bring relief to some, but there’s no outrunning the greater, continuing world turmoil that’s coming.

Doing a study like this, with 40,000 people, is so incredibly expensive. All of that funding just wasted…

The specificity of my adjacency to Botstein both kept me marked safe from ever being in his orbit and haunts me. (The few times we interacted I just called him Leon, which he visibly bristled at and hated, so there’s that.)

New York Magazine’s coverage from 2007 treated her as a joke & backgrounded Epstein raping her. (“rococo law filings filed by William J Unroch, Esq, on behalf of his client and maybe-girlfriend, Maximilia ‘Ava’ Cordero, a self-described model who claimed that at 16 she was molested by…Epstein”)
Leslie Wexner, former CEO of Victoria's Secret, was the other man named by Ava Cordero as her rapist and abuser alongside Jeffrey Epstein in 2007, only to be mocked and degraded and dismissed as crazy because she's trans.

*sigh* If elon is responsible for getting a bad 230 ruling by using it as a defense in a case like this, it's just going to be one more thing on the long list of good things he's ruined.
Dinking around in the St. Clair v. xAI docket, I found that xAI is indeed raising Section 230 as a defense to liability for Grok's bikini pics, as previewed in its opposition to a PI. ("Does 230 apply to gen AI outputs?" is a Q courts haven't answered yet.) storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

I’ve said before and I’ll say again, not only would an actual* “free the party from maga” R do well to get started (well before) now, they’d also certainly pull nevertrump, as well as centrist Dems allowing themselves to be impressed by their ~righteous stance voters.

Rs are heading towards a wipeout in Nov, but more importantly: if you're a Republican looking to run in '28, on this trajectory your only hope is to not be associated with Trump.

So when do those Rs start to actively run away from him?

For those familiar w/ "ARkStorm/ARk2.0" flood scenarios for California, a comparable event has been unfolding on the Iberian Peninsula. These ridiculous rainfall accumulations, caused by a long series of extremely moist atmospheric rivers, have brought widespread severe flooding to Spain & Portugal.
Grazalema, Spain, received over 2,000 mm (78 inches) of rain in just the last 20 days.

Over a year’s worth of rain — and it’s only early February. This is hydrologically absurd.

Even if everything Botstein writes is true (I have my doubts), it's still a shameful debacle. This is who Epstein flew him out to meet. The idea that a university president's job is to pal around with and thus launder the reputation of these fucks should call the whole enterprise into question.
