Anytime there’s a good election outcome or a not-bad court ruling or a tariff is dropped I have a half-second of gladness and then I turn around and assess the continuing destruction of everything else.

There was a preAI time when tech|bros gamed KU as another drop ship $ printing venture. Most used barely-paid ghostwriters, positioned themselves as 🦄 male romance authors, & glut+exhorted their fanbase to sit-and-click for access/rewards. Romance is a cash cow & people think that means it’s easy.
fuck this lady, fuck the nyt reporter, fuck all of this. fuck amazon for introducing the KU page read model that makes this possible, fuck our tech overlords.

It’s so funny how my years of following skating knowledge is just roaring back, like terrible ad jingles or character actor spotting and never anything useful 😊

I lived in Savannah and always felt I was walking over cursed earth. Its modern iteration is equally cursed: a gorgeous, tight 22 squares, Forsyth, and attendant multimillion-dollar mansions, and then two blocks out is neglect and decay. Tulsa, Vienna.
I've been to lots of cities around the world and the most "haunted by the spectres of their pasts" vibes I've gotten were in Phnom Penh (where you can still see ex-Khmer Rouge hanging out) and Charleston, where it feels like slavery's evils are in every single cobblestone and grand old structure

Imagine believing it's "strategic" to avoid calling out racism because that will somehow get you across some median voter line while never realizing it will shift the entire cultural and electoral reality toward a place where racism is socially accepted and even rewarded.

That Savannah Guthrie story is terrible and so odd and if we lived normal lives in normal times it’d be news but for these times it’s just static in all the rest of the noise.

Something I keep coming back to (adjacent this) is a musician friend who told me about working w a famous singer. And the crazy stuff the singer was “into.” And the “into” was explained as he could get anything on demand, removing meaning or thrill, so he kept escalating to feel power/want again.

People I consider to be discerning and aware are sending me AI videos who then have to be talked through how I pinged, and then ascertained, it was AI. I don’t mind the talking through, but the trajectory of all this makes me so unsettled.

Not only did they bring a small private army, but among the waste of taxpayer money was BRINGING A FULL PLANE OF FOOD.

“There are many terrible secrets buried in the Epstein files, which mix the mundane and the horrific, the thirsty and the criminal, and perhaps that’s the most upsetting part of all of this.” 🎁🔗⤵️
this might be the highest gross things per line ratio piece I've read - if Americans are really following this story, the anti-elite backlash will be fierce.

More or less, yes. There is a reason why I talk about the raids between the two sites in 2012/2023 jokingly as “The War in Heaven”
I have a theory that that 4chan and Tumblr have collided in spaces online and physical, and, as they are the matter and anti-matter of internet culture, they annihilate each other in a tremendous explosion.

This has the unfortunate effect of blasting the rest of us into smithereens as well.
