Rewatched this with my kids a few years ago and it’s kind of wild how cutting it is, for a family movie, in depicting the immigrant experience. Fievel’s dad gives the officers his extremely Slavic surname and they immediately rename the family like, Johnson or something.
It’s hard to believe but there was a cartoon about an immigrant mouse and it was seen as totally fine and not controversial and not woke because it was an aspirational and nice thing about America that people could come here and find a better life

This is the world me and all the other millennial anime heads forged when we spent our time watching Evangelion and Satoshi Kon movies in 120p on malware-ridden websites. We paved the road.
Nature is healing when one MCU movie after another can’t get any traction while every month or two some Japanese anime I have never heard of called “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle” makes a fortune. This is how it should be

Obsessing over the physical condition of new, mass-market books to assemble some perfect little shelf is just idolatry and materialism. The important thing about a book is the story itself, and getting it into your brain. Who cares if it gets dog-eared or the spine gets broken in the process?
Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat

Jared Leto was good in My So Called Life bc he played a pretty dumbass and he was good in Fight Club bc he was also a pretty dumbass whose major plot moment was getting beaten up real bad. This was his lane and he strayed to the detriment of all.

And he was okay in Lord of War where his major moment was getting gunned down in Sierra Leone.
what's the stupidest/randomest Simpsons quote that lives in your head rent free? Mine is the urge to say "you said go to bread" every time I am about to head to bed.

"The bee bit my bottom, and now my bottom's big," whenever something that's just a little bad happens.
Credit to Square Enix, they could have taken this landmark Disney partnership to put out the equivalent of Super Mario RPG. Dumb down for their audience, double their dollars. Instead they roped Donald, Goofy etc. into the most impenetrable JRPG storytelling I’ve ever encountered.
What the fuck does this mean? Do I need a numerologist for this? What is a final chapter prologue? What is II*8 This is a game about Donald fuckin Duck
