With her comments, #JoniErnst shows she misses the point. We all understand that we are all mortal. The thing is, Medicaid helps prevent premature, preventable deaths among Americans who are particularly vulnerable because of the system that exists.

Our analysis looked at policy and state response variations in a #Medicaid per capita cap. In all cases, the 2034 % cut was bigger than the 10-year total showing that effects of the policy grow over time (and would continue beyond the budget window).

75% of Medicaid beneficiaries are exempt from work requirements for medical reasons. Among non-exempt, those not working (10% overall) are sicker. Work requirements apply to small number of benes, but bureaucracy will kick lots off Medicaid, harming public health. jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...
