Having been around the Internet for a while, one striking thing is that, with social media, there was a moment when everyone thought it was going to make the Internet better. We never even had that moment with AI - we all know it's going to make things worse and the companies just keep plowing ahead

The president posted an AI video of him pooping himself while on a plane.
The president, on his Truth Social account, posts an AI video portraying him as 'King Trump' piloting a fighter jet which drops shit on 'No Kings' demonstrators. truthsocial.com/@realDonaldT...

Agree with this completely. I was meh on the shutdown earlier, keep or shut down until this stops. Force Rs to get rid of the filibuster over this shit if they agree with it.
Okay. Well, if Trump is going to attempt legal end-arounds like federalizing the NG of GOP states to send them to Dem states over the objections of governors and courts, I think the Democrats should just keep the federal government shut down indefinitely.

Dude called back all the senior officers to take swipes at trans people. Does he think none of these officers have loved ones who are trans?
Hegseth: "No more dudes in dresses. No more climate change worship ... we are done with that shit."

In addition to the concept being gross and anti-american, it seems like there are a lot of ways our adversaries will be able to use those $100k and $1m visas in malicious ways. Just a bad and stupid idea.

All the replies dragging this are correct. Additionally, we don't actually need legislation bc the solution to this (write better contracts!) already exists
If military equipment breaks, our service members shouldn't have to wait around for greedy military contractors to fly out and overcharge us to repair it.

I’ve got a bipartisan bill to put a stop to this. Let's get it done.

They're both super into tariffs.
Knowing everything you know about Epstein and Trump read this yourself two-three times and ask what the most obvious interpretation of it would be.

Once was trying to strap my kids into their car seats in the van and realized I was standing awkwardly and my butt was sticking out the door (for ref,
I'm an out of shape dad). Glanced behind me to make sure no one was walking past, and Jesse Eisenberg was there with a horrified look on his face.

what's the most random interaction you've ever had with a celebrity?

I still say "Money can't buy knives?" and "what if I said I'm sorry?" multiple times/week (both from surf ninjas).
What's the most random/obscure thing you quote?

In "The Stand' by Stephen King (complete/uncut ed iirc), a character called The Kid would sometimes say "how do you like that happy crappy?" and I often say that to myself/out loud for various reasons lol.

Bessent on Trump publicly slagging Jerome Powell: "Bobby Knight won three national championships ... so working the refs seems to be effective."

This is all pretty bad. But I wonder if there are people in DOD reminding Trump and Hegseth that accurate weather forecasting is important for nuclear deterrence and reliable hypersonics. This stuff has consequences beyond even the obvious ones.
BREAKING: Texas officials are blaming bad weather forecasts for deadly floods.

But let’s rewind—Trump gutted the National Weather Service. Slashed funding. Fired experts. Ignored every warning.

Now people are dead.
THIS is what happens when you let idiots dismantle public safety.

I see a lot of people really negative about the 4th today. I get it, I really do. We're in a dark time.

But nothing is inevitable and the democracy is still functioning until it isn't. Use the 4th as a reminder about the vision for this country. We can still get it back.

Have a friend that spent more than half of the working hours in a week on dialysis for four years. She DID work during that time, just under 20 hours/week, which means she was essentially doing dialysis or working most of her life. Should she have been kicked off Medicaid?
Mike Johnson claims that work requirements for Medicaid are popular and really should be more than 20 hours a week
