Lawyer. Mama. Mainer. Cat lady. Sun worshiper. Music fiend. Neurospicy(ADD).
A thing about raising a daughter that nobody told me was the sheer number of hair elastics and clips we go through. Like, I thought I lose them quickly but this girl disappears her hair tie before daycare dropoff almost daily 🤑🤑

This Tuesday day off for the entire household is really fucking with my head. Feels like I should be changing linens for clean sheet Sunday but I just did that 2 days ago and there's a strong chance I'll forget to go into the office tomorrow since I WFH on Mondays

Disassociating on this snowy day watching Land Before Time with my son, haven't watched since childhood, another journey down the road of how'd this classic age since I was my son's age

My dad retired and transferred most of his clients to a local attorney but saved a few handpicked referrals for me, including one who he suggested we chat about before I meet with the client. This is how my notes start from that chat with him, should be a fun new client meeting this morning!

We also passed a red flag gun law! Proud of steps in the right direction scattered all over the country 🙌🏼
Everyone should pay careful attention to the Maine voter ID ballot measure (Prop 1). It is on track to lose -- thereby proving that the GOP claims that voter ID laws are overwhelmingly popular is a lie. Perhaps now the legacy media will stop repeating that nonsense.

Today we went to a ski swap, church, walk in a bird sanctuary, playground, fiddle concert (big band vibes but strings), with only one stop at home to drop off husband to rest his back while the kids and I did the latter 3 without him. I am finished but still have to power thru dinner and bedtime 🫠

Was wondering why Ghostbusters was starting to hit just right and then remembered the 5 mg I ate before dinner 45 minutes ago 🤩

My husband's back seized up while getting ready to leave this morning and he was visibly uncomfortable standing or really doing anything so he called out and took a valium and has been horizontal for hours. I tried imagining doing that and...I can't. My job would be fine, but my mom guilt? Lol NOPE

I worked for a small food pantry for a while. The can of beans you paid $1 for would cost us 20 cents through our connections.

Give money directly if you can. You can literally multiply the amount of food your donation can provide by 3-5x just by giving cash directly.
If you can afford it, a *monetary* donation (it goes a lot farther!) to your local food bank would be a most excellent thing to do right now.
I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.

Well, platner made quite a splash and had us optimistic in the national spotlight but can't say I wasn't cynically expecting something to burst that bubble. On to the next, Mills is a firecracker but 78 is too old!!

My brother got married this weekend (yay!💘) and it was a very communal effort of an event/weekend and these are the Mondays I'm so grateful to work from home on Mondays and Fridays. Laundry is going, I'll get kiddo to school, then space out til my 2:00 zoom with an old family friend/new client

Did big kid-free house project yesterday so today we get a guilt-free hang out and play day with the kids 🥰 part of that is a father-son Halloween decorating mission that I've been explicitly (and gladly) excluded from so during toddler nap time I get to do ✨nothing✨

As an estate planning etc lawyer, I cannot be more enthusiastic in endorsing this
Dear lawyer friends - being a lawyer does not mean you understand the nuances of Will drafting. Please stop. Seriously. Please stop. You will cost your friends and clients a shitton in legal fees fighting over the language of your terribly drafted Will.

Ok @schatz.bsky.social just dragged the House for their stupidly long vaca WRT shutdown/healthcare and then specifically requested to switch to a different journal to record his remarks calling BS and not holding back with accurate labels of authoritarianism, terrorism, etc by DJT and his cronies

We're now 4/4 for COVID and flu 💉 in our house! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
In good news, finally found a COVID 💉 appointment for our 3 y/o! Walmart is scheduling them in Maine, in case that's relevant/helpful for anyone reading this!

This is (I believe) a huge obstacle to people understanding what's at stake. They don't know they're talking about Medicaid benefits bc every state calls their program something different. Here, it's MaineCare, and lots of folks reasonably think it's under Medicare bc of the name similarity.
I learned something new: Medicaid is called Dr. Dynasaur in Vermont.

Maybe you didn't know that either — or maybe you don't know you're even on Medicaid because it's called something else.

Either way, Republicans cut your care, and Democrats are fighting to restore it.
