I have no idea what's going on.

Movies, comics/manga, books, music, that's me 👍

2666 is so good. I'm on the last section. Its fragmented structure and multiple POVs, many international, that skirt around the femicides in Mexico, captures like nothing else I've read what it's like to live knowing atrocity is a fact of life...

All I see when I see Bari Weiss is Refaat Alareer’s murderer. In a better world she would be on trial instead of serving as a well-paid censor for a billionaire family.

"This is Spinal Tap" is probably the funniest movie ever made, absolutely hallucinatory in its perfection, like peak 30 Rock or golden-age Simpsons

I’m just going to tell the story. Back in 2000 I was volunteering for the Gore campaign when he came along with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Alfre Woodard and Dule Hill to a GOTV event here in MN. He ended up sitting down across from me stuffing his envelopes.

One citizen said that federal agents in Idaho pointed guns at her children, ages 6 and 8, and dragged her 14-year-old daughter out of a truck and zip-tied her.

The mother told investigators that an agent threatened to “fucking blow your head off.”

Extraordinary courage from Ahmed al Ahmed, a Muslim, 43-year-old father of two, who bravely risked his life to save his neighbors celebrating Hanukkah.

Praying for his full & speedy recovery.

I say this but then Love & Rockets, particularly Beto's Palomar stories from the first 50 issues, is arguably the medium's peak. Rarely seen social/cultural/psychosexual critique and insight so profound in any medium
I think manga is where the potential of comics is most often met. Something to do with the space they're given to expand on little moments and delve into characters' lives. Also the writer/artist being more common over there is a big plus.

Been reading a lot of manga, too. I think Taiyo Matsumoto is the GOAT, not just in manga but in all of comics. No. 5, Sunny, Tokyo These Days, GoGo Monster, Tekkonkinkreet, Ping Pong.... these books are very special to me. Especially those first 3. I'd put them up against the best work in any medium
