‘Refused to disavow’ ‘won’t rule out’ ‘refused to confirm’. These are the red flags of poor journalism. They indicate a journalist more interested in the ‘gotcha’ moment than in eliciting meaningful comment. Works that include these phrases should be consigned to the garbage bin

(To all, our take) Mamdani is being attacked not for what he said, but for what he represents. He named antisemitism, offered nuance, and defended free speech. That should be enough. But clarity from a brown Muslim gets spun as threat. If we can’t hold complexity, we’re feeding fear, not justice.

Nope, what happened is he was asked whether he’d ban it as a phrase (or something) and he said that Trump banned words, not him, he didn’t believe in it; that 10/7 was a war crime, but that intifada had different meanings to different people and meant ‘struggle’ literally… there was more but —-
