Biggest news story in Canada yesterday - where is the media coverage that it deserves? Mainstream reporting is making the AB separatist narrative dominant...in the face of actual evidence to the contrary. @atissuecbc.bsky.social
Today, I submitted 456,365 Albertans’ signatures to Elections Alberta, petitioning the Premier to do the right thing, avoid a divisive and economically harmful referendum, and allow MLAs to vote and reaffirm that Alberta’s future is in Canada.🇨🇦

For gods sake hire more doctors.
In the next few years, there will be millions more people needing complex health care—and not enough young Canadians to provide it. AI can help fill the gaps. https://macleans.ca/society/health/ai-could-save-canadas-health-care-system/

Carney won the election because of old people?? Counterfactual: Voters on the Canadian Left with a long history of electing social democrats bit the bullet to keep Pierre Poilievre and Maple MAGA from getting a foothold in Parliament. Some of us just happen to be old (70). @ppfideas.bsky.social
NEW EPISODE OUT NOW!

In today’s episode David talks to political historian @dmk1793.bsky.social about whether voting should be required by law and what might change if non-participation was no longer an option. Why have some countries made voting compulsory?

Elections Alberta has approved a citizen-initiated petition application to gather signatures in support of the proposal to end public funding to independent/private schools.

Calgary teacher Alicia Taylor says she brought it forward because it could help improve funding for public schools. #AbEd

Now THAT'S a Premier.
B.C. Premier David Eby is clearly beyond frustrated with Danielle Smith's pipeline dreams threatening the B.C. economy.

In a fiery statement, he called her out directly stating...

BC's Premier is un-Canadian???? She's got some gall.
This is dangerous rhetoric. Attempts to delegitimize opponents' right to take part in a conversation inevitably undermine respect on both sides.

It polarizes our politics, undermining trust in democracy, which depends on expressing disagreement.

C'mon Lacombe! Rise to your better selves. (Grew up there and still have (some) hope).
Today, I’m off on the #ForeverCanadian Unity Bus to Wetaskiwin, Ponoka, Lacombe, Calmar and Leduc.

It is important to me that all Albertans have an opportunity to show their support for Canada by signing the petition.

See you there!!!

Fund universities.
Our universities are in crisis—underfunded, undervalued, and pushed to the breaking point. The ongoing austerity measures are stifling research productivity and innovation, causing direct and indirect job losses, and downgrading Ontario’s competitiveness and reputation.
