When 30% of the country believes things that are beyond the pale you do what's necessary to be sure 30% of the next generation will NOT believe those things. You create conditions where they'll be ashamed for their children to know they were slave owners, Nazis, or whatever.

The point of analysis is trying to present a true image of the world. If it's divisive, so be it.
And right now, someone with the backbone to draw clear lines is what will galvanize opposition.
