I love this so much.
Hardly new info, but BSky should know:

Warsaw's water quality is monitored by eight clams with magnets attached to their shells. If contamination in the water causes the clams to close, the magnets trigger an alarm and shut off the city's water supply.
Thank you, little guardian molluscs.

Great article from @dralexford.bsky.social and colleagues www.nature.com/articles/s44... . The use of manufactured doubt, deflection and disinformation has become relevant across #environmental #sciences - #PlasticsTreaty and #climatechange. Here's another example of what scientists are facing.
Water industry strategies to manufacture doubt and deflect blame for sewage pollution in England - Nature Water

UK University funding is a mess at the moment. Student fees frozen while costs go up. Fewer international students coming to subsidise courses for UK students. No quotas, so ‘top’ Universities take more students to pay the bills.

“Over the past 50 years, there has been a drastic loss in the global wildlife population that will gradually get worse.

Currently, an estimated 200 species have been lost in the UK.”
Climate change is affecting our wildlife. Can we help nature?
Wildlife loss is prominent in Greater Manchester. Why is this happening, and is there anything we can do to prevent further loss?
