All monopolies use Open Source as the basis for almost all of their technology, and they themselves do not usually realize it when drinking their own kool-aid, watching their own commercials that tell them how innovative they are.
It’s vital that we support open source software. Without it, our ability to respond to challenges and manage our lives will diminish, so will our ability to survive. Even the multi trillion dollar software industry is born on the backs of free- and open source kode.
After taking over housing and healthcare, private equity is now buying up software used by volunteer fire departments — making it even harder for rural communities to respond to emergencies.

Open Projects like these are critical for refining policy and ways to achieve goals that can keep the future livable. And to be frank, Open Source projects are likely to be our only path to an economy that allows us to survive and curb climate crisis - companies & politicians certainly won’t.
