I'm sure Trump investigating other prominent figures and bringing them to trial will have absolutely zero negative consequences for him or his party, he should absolutely follow through with this—discovery will be illuminating.

I imagine some sane but very fearful members of the GOP are seriously hoping that the Dems will actively resist Trump enough so that they won't have to. If the Dems do it, House and Senate GOP members can hoot and holler like they are upset while they breathe a sigh of relief.
