The French department at Nottingham invited me to give a talk early on in my postdoc days and I still have fond memories of that event. Horrible to see those colleagues now suffer from terrible mismanagement.
Oh God. My first lecturing post was in French at Nottingham in 1998. It had one of the best departments in the UK. Just awful.
