I'm not really sure where the country goes if police start firing on protesters en masse.
The government murdered protesters (and bystanders!) during the Vietnam protests, but the country is more armed and (from my perspective) feels more unstable today.

interesting to note that 400 protesters have monopolized all of LASD’s enforcement power because they tried to help ICE arrest half a dozen guys working at a Home Depot
