Nothing exciting, really. TTRPGs, medieval reenactment, woodworking, programming, philosophy, and a whole lot of reading.
Why don't you put her in charge, Charlie Brown?

Book #47 - Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher (@tkingfisher.com).

Part fairy tale, part revenge story, completely delightful.

Kingfisher writes interesting characters. The dust-wife was worth the price of admission alone. And don't get me started on the chickens.

I saw one of the campus squirrels climbing a tree with most of a cookie in its mouth. He then proceeded to go at it with gusto.

I love how Shirley Jackson looked exactly like the kind of person who would write Shirley Jackson stories.

All said, the bothersome thing about Copilot is how dodgy they are on details about exactly what data they're collecting.

We're supposed to adopt a zero trust mindset when programming, and yet they're constantly pushing a "trust us" narrative when it comes to precisely how safe our data is.

Make more money than your female colleagues for precisely no reason?

Problematic wage gap.
Your tiger is out?

Problematic cage gap
Your thanksgiving stuffing doesn’t taste right?

Problematic sage gap.

Anyway, I wrote my first C# program yesterday. Just a wee Fisher-Yates shuffle that outputs markdown for the daily standup meeting. First step in automating the morning workflow.

Man, Visual Studio is SO GODDAMN HELPY.

Like, seriously, can I just type without you popping up some new and incredibly incorrect suggestion with every keystroke? Maybe wait until I ask?

I've reached the point in my Obsidian journey where I'm writing an external program to prepare my daily notes just so.

I'm sure I could find the right plugins to do the same thing, but honestly it is WAY easier for me to write an external program to manipulate the files to match my daily workflow.

-Bjarne Stroustrup, a man who has both been there and done that in the world of programming.
