NOW: Voting is underway on the shutdown deal in the House. So far, dems Gluesenkamp Perez, Adam Gray, and Jared Golden have voted yes. So the dems couldn't get unanimity on this in the House, either.

Maybe it’s just the skeptic in me, but having the US AG and FBI Director meet with a member of Congress in the world’s most secure SCIF to try to get them to take their signature of a petition to release evidence against the world‘s most infamous child sex trafficker seems slightly suspicious.

An important side note about today's Epstein/Trump revelations.

They show that Todd Blanche's questioning of Maxwell was either (a) completely incompetent; or (b) intentionally crafted not to elicit facts incriminating Trump.

Either way, he is not fit to serve as Deputy Attorney General.

The attorney general and the FBI director, a manosphere podcaster bro, pulled into the situation room a member of Congress best known for getting kicked out of a Beetlejuice musical for drunkenly giving her date a handy, in order to pressure her about the president's child sex trafficking scandal.

I don't think it is reasonable or fair to put short story writers through months and months of contract negotiation, and have them have to argue through every clause to get a fair deal.

This is unacceptable and my advice is not to submit there. I haven't in years.

This is at least the fourth story I've seen of an author having to exchange multiple emails (over 20) with this publisher to get the contract language to not be rights grabby and it's one of three where the writer walked away.

I appreciate the effort and transparency but I will also say-
On August 12, 1971, 16-year-old me mailed the first story I ever wrote off on its first submission to my dream market, F&SF. My tale was quickly rejected. On July 17th, 2025, I finally sold a story to that magazine. Here's why I felt I had to withdraw that story. www.scottedelman.com/wordpress/20...

The Senate’s spending bill eliminates or delays food safety rules aimed at preventing foodborne illnesses and contamination.

Not only did 8 Senate Democrats fail to protect millions of Americans’ healthcare, but they’re also making our food less safe.

Just cuz I suspect it's gonna be relevant: "underage women" is a contradiction in terms. There are adults and there are minors, who are children. Ditto "nonconsensual sex." That's rape. The only reason to play semantic games is because you benefit from obscuring the simplicity of these terms.

Silenced. Undermined.

Sued.

I will forever remind people that just saying I believed an accuser resulted in a nightmare legal battle that effectively gagged me on the issue for years.
The idea that sexual abuse is part of “private” life instead of a public crisis has done incalculable damage. Anti-rape activists have to fight to even make it possible to expose sexual abuse as a wrongdoing in public without being silenced and undermined. That fight is far from won

Important to understand the Epstein stuff and the fascism and the corruption are, in a lot of ways, really all the same story from different angles: powerful men who can and do abuse vulnerable people around them because they can, and because systems of elite accountability catastrophically failed

Last year for three people in my family we paid $1500/mo. Next year it is going up to $2500/mo, without dental. If you add dental we will be paying around $30,000/yr. That is not even possible for a lot of families.

I desperately need to get some orders in to get funds to make it home 🥹 every order made with include an extra $10 worth of products ‼️✨

Why do we have money for Argentina while our own people lose their health care? How does this make us great?
